Charlton Farm is a family friendly farm located in a beautiful setting in Somerset. The Cottage is a 2 bedroom single level converted pigsty. Its décor offers a mix of traditional farmhouse and modern luxury - oak floorboards combined with light colours and comfortable yet functional furniture make it a comfortable 'home from home' for even the most discerning holidaymaker. There is a large open plan 'living space' of approximately 60 square metres incorporating a kitchen, dining table and TV / lounge area. A family of up to six can be accommodated in the double bedroom , twin bedroom and sofa bed in the lounge. A travel cot can also be provided together with qualified babysitters if required.
Outside there is an enclosed outdoor deck, accessible directly from the cottage with fantastic views down the valley. Once down the step, this also doubles as a perfect child pen!
There is around an acre of level garden surrounding the house and cottage with 2 lawns and plenty of accessible parking space. A large (enclosed) trampoline, a real tractor and swings as well as football and rugby goals / posts will undoubtedly be a hit with the children.
In addition there are plenty of animals to entertain all ages. Flapjack the collie cross is one of the most gentle dogs you could wish to meet. Donald and Badger the cats are always looking for new friends. Unicorn the goat says hello to everyone. The Shetland sheep will come and eat out of your hand. There is a coop with around 15 (most ex-battery) chickens always hungry for scraps.
The garden leads into the sheep field and then on into 'Snails Bottom' - a beautiful valley with a shallow stream that children can paddle in and along which you can walk for as long as you can manage.
A huge range of outdoor activities are available within the local area. There is a child friendly, level cycle path along a disused railway line within 2 miles. Charlton Farm is in the centre of the triangle of historic towns of Bath to the north (10 miles), Wells to the west (11 miles) and Bradford-on-Avon to the east (12 miles). A worthwhile visit to the Bristol Zoo Gardens will always go down a treat, with over 450 exotic and endangered species to experience. Not forgetting Longleat Safari Park, the UK's first safari park set in the grounds of the stunning Longleat House and Wookey Hole - a great family day out at the spectacular caves which also offers the 19th Century papermill, Old Penny Arcade and mirror maze.
