Driftwood Hotel, Rosevine, Cornwall

Rosevine, Nr Portscatho, South Cornwall

Joanne Says
The hotel extends the invitation “Vibrant distraction or peaceful seclusion?” And it states that families may be as well looked after as romantic couples or small groups – do you want to throw down the gauntlet? I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

The Driftwood Hotel is situated just five miles from St Mawes and a mile from the fishing village of Porscatho, You may know that the southern Cornish coast is almost unique in it's climate, the Gulf Stream blows in warm comforting winds that ensure that the summers are warm and the winter mild.  That infers that you might visit anytime – which of course you might!

Back to the seven acres of private gardens; they gently layer down to the perfect crescent beach, there’s the sheltered terrace to relax on whilst enjoying the fabulous view and even a secluded two bedroom weather boarded cabin overlooking the sea.  Inside the hotel blends with its stunning setting; low-key informal yet stylish sitting rooms are stocked with books, magazines and board games to pass the time however you wish.  Bedrooms are simply but stylishly decorated, some overlooking the sea.  Ground floor bedrooms have their own decked terrace on which to enjoy the balmy (or indeed wintery) mornings!

Driftwood has a simple bar, television room with video/dvd library and a children’s games room with computer games should the weather dictate.

However you are in a perfect position to stroll along or build castles on the private beach and enjoy the simple pleasures of a family beach holiday.  Should you wish to explore the coastal paths you’ll find some of the most scenic views in the world to appreciate. The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Tate Gallery at St Ives, and Falmouth’s Maritime Museum are close by.

On your return you can all enjoy the superb food on offer – there is no ‘special’ children’s menu as they get to enjoy early suppers that are prepared from the fresh and seasonal produce just as for the adults.  Should you want to, the restaurant team will also pack hampers that are perfect for lunch on the beach.

Driftwood is a special place – it provides the essence of a quintessentially old English beach holiday but provides such splendid facilities to really enjoy it.
