Accommodation
There is a choice of accommodation, either within hotel rooms or in self-catering apartments. The hotel has 27 rooms some traditionally decorated, others contemporary. Rooms range from standard doubles to interconnecting and suites so whatever your numbers/ages you will be accommodated fittingly. All have in-room monitors linked up to reception so that you may dine out once the children are settled.
The Dower House, set in 4 acres of exquisite gardens holds eleven 1 or 2 bedroom apartments should you prefer the option of self-catering and more privacy and space. Just 800 yards from the main hotel you can enjoy all of the fabulous facilities of the hotel whilst having the freedom of your own apartment. Each apartment includes a microwave and convection oven, fridge and dishwasher. A laundry room with washer/dryer is available. The kids can choose from DVDs, a Playstation and board games or partake of the table tennis and air hockey in the converted garage. Should you decide you don’t wishe to cook there’s a full take-away food service from the main hotel, otherwise baby sitting can be arranged at £7 per hour for you to dine out.
A further alternative is the recently refurbished Butlers Lodge, just a stones throw from the main hotel, which has three bedrooms, a bathroom, full kitchen, large living space and its own walled garden.
Cots, highchairs, sterlisers, nappy buckets and baby food are available should you need them – if you want anything else just ask!
Food
The kitchens serves wholesome and nutritious food, freshly prepared, for those that will partake - fussy eaters are catered as needed! Children have their own two-course lunch served in the conservatory with choices from the menu. A buffet supper is conveniently served in Café Inferno during peak holiday season from 5.00 - 6.30pm or in the conservatory at less busy times. High tea is available for the younger children served in The Four Bears Den at 5:00pm with a set menu changed daily. Meals in The Four Bears Den are charged at £7.00 per child for two courses; the childrens buffet supper £8.50 per child for two courses. A children's menu is available in the Conservatory from £5.00 per child.
Fine dining is reputable at The Ickworth so it would be wise to book. Fredericks Restaurant, awarded two rosettes, overlooks the Italian gardens, and provides the perfect setting for a candle-lit sophisticated adult-only meal. The Conservatory, open all day and evening, provides simple, tasty dishes for the whole family to enjoy.
Child Care
The Ofsted registered Four Bears Den is an ideal distraction for babies and young children and the perfect place to alleviate any guilt you may have when booking into the Spa next door. The nannies supervise daily from 10.00am until 4.45pm although the facility is open 24 hours a day should one of you decide to give the other a lie in! Free play is encouraged when appropriate with lots of toys and activities to choose from. Sessions are for up to 2 hours; it’s not necessary to book before you arrive.
Club Blu, complete with table football, table tennis and computer games is the older kids space where they can socialise and have time out from the grown ups.
