Lower Damgate Holiday Cottages are located in beautiful, peaceful countryside, situated between the magnificent rivers of Dovedale and the Manifold Valley, with many pleasant walks direct from cottages. The local scenery is spectacular and many books have been published about the area. Carolyn and Charlie, your hosts, aim to make your stay as warm and welcoming as possible and on arrival you will receive a little welcome gift. They live on-site and are always on hand to answer any questions and have a wealth of information on the local area.
The four child friendly holiday cottages have been completely renovated to a very high standard using original materials and local craftsmanship. The properties are grade II listed and retain many of the original features such as beams and stonework sometimes lost in renovation. They offer impressive holiday accommodation in their quality of fitting and furnishings, comprising of the latest technology. Reuben's Roost, Bremen's Barn, Hope's Hideaway and Purdy's Place sleep 7, 9, 8 and 5 respectively (5-29) with the space for the additional cot. Outside there are individual decking areas with garden furniture and barbeques.
Other facilities on-site is a Games Room which includes a pool table, darts, swing chair, football table and a stock of games for indoor and outdoor use. There is also a laundry room for your convenience. Alongside the 2 acre playing field, which is excellent for ball games, there is a children's play area with outdoor toys and a trampoline. If you wish to stretch your legs further afield, you are welcome to explore the 20 acres of farm grounds and feel free to take a picnic. Around the farm you will find the pet sheep, ducks, and chickens and during lambing time the children often help feed the lambs. Dogs are welcome free of charge and can be accommodated in all cottages except Purdy‘s Place.
With some fantastic nearby family attractions there is always suggestions on hand for a great family day out. Chatsworth House, Hardwick and Haddon Halls are within half an hours drive away. Alton Towers is one of the UK's leading theme parks and is only 15 minutes away. You will find Splash landing Water Park at the same site, ideal for rainy days! Railway enthusiasts can enjoy Churnet Valley railway and Darley Dale Railway where Thomas the Tank engine regularly visits. Markets towns Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leek provide unique shopping with cobbled streets, antique and usual shops. You couldn't go to Bakewell without having one of their famous tarts! Buxton is famous for its waters and spa.
