Scotland's majestic Highlands with their beautiful peaks, forests and sand-fringed lochs form the backdrop to Mains Of Taymouth cottages. By the picturesque village of Kenmore, this luxurious complex of cottages can be found on the 120 acre estate nestled at the east end of Loch Tay, in magnificent Highland Perthshire. Built in the 19th century and formerly the home farm for Taymouth Castle, the stunning courtyard buildings are now tastefully converted into luxury holiday cottages. All the family cottages have enclosed gardens which are great for little ones to run of steam and not forgetting the hot tubs - sheer luxury for everyone to enjoy. On the complex there is a small children's play area and just a short walk to the village you will find a safe a sandy beach with boats available for hire. The surrounding area has numerous short walks off the main roads which are ideal for walking or cycling with small children.
The eleven cottages are based around an 18th century courtyard and vary from cosy 2 bedroom cottages to an extensive 5 bedroom with en-suite facilities, secluded garden, sauna and hot tub - suitable for couples with new-born babies to large family get-togethers. All the cottages are traditional stone built and tastefully modernised with central heating, open log fires, dishwashers and all other mod cons you would possibly need. Black-out blinds, cots, highchairs and stairgates can be found as standard are provided free of charge together with all bed linen and logs. The cottages are in a quiet private setting and have all been awarded four or five stars by the Scottish Tourist Board. Ideally located with easy access to the golf course, restaurant and everything the area has to offer.
The on-site Courtyard Restaurant is a stunning, contemporary Brasserie and Bar right on the shores of magnificent Loch. With an upbeat vibrancy and modern, delicious, ‘back to basics' Scottish cuisine, prepared and presented by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Children are welcome in both the bar and restaurant and can choose of an extensive kids menu. Make the most of the warmer days too by eating al-fresco on the lovely decked outdoor terraces. Handy also for grabbing a quick coffee or hot chocolate whilst keeping an eye on the children on the outdoor play area. The delicatessen located next door offers an eclectic mix of the finest products sourced from Scotland, Italy and even as far afield as New Zealand! Whether you're looking for a foodie gift or something a little different for dinner, there is bound to be something to tickle your taste buds.
Mains of Taymouth trekking and learning centre is situated on site, with some of the most spectacular views and scenery around. The professional and enthusiastic staff are there to make sure you get all you want from your riding experiences and are geared up to accommodate both adults and children alike - supplying tiny ponies to huge big horses.
Kenmore Golf Course is on the doorstep with reduced fees to residents and juniors are most welcome. Established in 1992 at Mains of Taymouth, this is a testing 9-hole golf course set in the heart of Highland Perthshire. The quality, mildly undulating layout provides an excellent venue amidst magnificent scenery. Highland golf at its best and most scenically special.
Numerous activities can be found within striking distance of Mains Of Taymouth. For all those who can't resist a swim whilst on holiday a swimming pool can be found in Aberfeldy just 6 miles away. Kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, quad biking and Highland Adventure safaris are there for the most adventurous. However if taking the sights in are more your scene there are some outstanding visitor attractions including Blair Castle, Pitlochry Theatre, the House of Bruar, Killiecrankie, Dewars World of Whisky and the Queens View.
