Mazzard Farm is an enchanting place for a family holiday. The accommodation is well designed and the kids will love the freedom that Mazzard Farm offers.
At Mazzard Farm, all the ingredients are available for a lovely, relaxing, and truly unforgettable holiday. For a start it is situated on the Jurassic Coast in Devon, some 15 minutes away from various beaches (pebble as well as sand). The area around Mazzard Farm is literally crowded with things to do, see and enjoy. The coast and beaches, children's attractions, pretty towns and villages, woodland walks and cycle trails are just some of the reasons why people, once they've discovered Mazzard Farm, return time and again. In fact, there is so much to enjoy that Ruud and Jacqueline of Mazzard Farm, with input from many guests, have developed a 25-page 'Lonely Planet-style' guide to the area. This guide is sent to everyone who books a holiday, ensuring guests can start enjoying their holiday before they even have set off.
Family Accommodation
And let's not forget about the accommodation - 6 contemporary cottages, extremely well presented and designed to a very high spec that can sleep from 2 to 10 people. Kitchens that will be a joy to cook in - yes even on holiday, bathrooms to relax and unwind in and with luxury box sprung beds there will be no uncomfortable nights yearning for your own bed. There is free WiFi in each cottage, and a library is available with a large collection of books, games, cd's and dvd's. A number of barbeque areas in the grounds (BBQs provided) give you an opportunity for an alfresco meal.
Baby and Twin Friendly
In addition, for your convenience and a lighter packed car, cots (incl. linen), a pram, beach towels, and much more can be provided. Ruud and Jacqueline are open to special requests and if there is anything specific you feel that they could help you with, just ask! In fact Ruud says they are extremely popular with families blessed with twins as they have so much baby equipment that can be provided. And baby-sitting can be arranged.
What the kids will enjoy...
The grounds at Mazzard Farm should be highlighted as a huge pull to families with kids who like a bit of independence and may wish to go off and explore. As well as the courtyard, with a huge stash of ride on toys for the younger ones, dolls prams and bikes for all ages, there is ample space for older children to meet up with new found holiday chums in the gardens, orchard, children's play area or the enclosed private woods.
The first children's play area includes a trampoline, sand pit, climbing frame and slide. In addition, there is a second larger outdoor play area, with a fantastic 'pirate castle', swings, a large Tipi play tent and football pitch, aimed especially at the older children. There is a small pet enclosure where the kids can feed the resident hens, and meet the friendly rabbit and guinea pig.
And for the parents...
Because the owners are only too aware that your holiday is not just for your children to enjoy, they also offer pamper treatments on site from Jacqueline herself - a trained holistic therapist and can be booked in advance or simply just once you are at Mazzard Farm. You know you are going to be well looked after when you are offered the chance to book a welcome box previously selected by yourselves so that you know at the end of the journey, when you arrive, you are not going to have to dash out to the nearest shop. Or you can choose from two local delivery services. Baby sitting and a personal chef can be arranged. Bikes (incl. child seats and a tag-along) are available for rent but please note, cycling in East Devon is not for the faint-hearted. The nearest beach (and has good access for push chairs) is Sidmouth's Jacob's Ladder beach, some 12 - 15 minutes drive away.
Mazzard Farm is baby, toddler and child-friendly in the extreme, yet the adults are not an after thought - they are also well catered for. Ruud and Jacqueline should be extremely proud of what they have achieved here - an extraordinary place to have an extraordinary holiday.
