Moonfleet Manor is to be found through two old weathered columns at the end of a long, long lane. Hidden away, it is blessed with a wondrous view overlooking Lyme Bay and the world’s longest stretch of shingle beach – Chesil Beach. We found it on a warm, sunny Spring day, buzzing with people and atmosphere. As with all of the Luxury Family Hotels a line of wellies, in all colours and sizes, greet you at the door before the smiley staff (who looked happy to be working!) and the very friendly live-in dog Spicer (who has since gone I’m sad to say) that greeted the girls with a fantastic tail wagging display that delighted them.

You can lie back on a steamer chair within the seven acres that is Driftwood, with a glass of wine and enjoy an unbroken sea view whilst the children explore. You can eat the best, locally sourced food in the restaurant that has just gained its third AA rosette. The atmosphere at Driftwood somehow combines everything anyone might want of a hotel.

Bosinver Farm Cottages, Cornwall

To visit Bosinver is a little like going back in time. It’s quiet, feels very secure and has a sedate village atmosphere. Yet all of the fabulous child-friendly cottages are furnished and decorated with aplomb to the very highest standards, some traditional, others more contemporary; all are so very well equipped and designed that you’ll thank Pat from the bottom of your heart! Note: there is some late availability so check out the web-site should you be able to grab a break outside of the school hols.

With 9 cottages around the green (sleeping 4 to 11 +cots), lots of safe play, a real-life children’s farm for hands-on action, an outdoor heated swimming and baby pool, playroom and games room, Torridge House provides a friendly, laid back, relaxing setting for all the family to have a really good time.
