Asheston Eco Barns, Pembrokeshire

Asheston House, Penycwm, Haverfordwest

Asheston Eco Barns are traditional Welsh stone farm buildings providing luxury holiday accommodation in a sustainable environment. The five individual barns all benefit from state of the art environmentally friendly technology. A wind turbine provides the electricity, heating comes from underground geo-thermal heat pumps, hot water from high speed vacuum solar panels, rain water recycling is used to reduce water usage and waste is treated in a bio-digester.

Accommodation

The luxury barns have been renovated to obtain five star grading using traditional building methods and have such features as oak beams, natural slate and limestone floors and eco friendly clay paint. The fittings for the barns are all to the highest standard and are fully equipped with modern kitchens and bathrooms.  Outside each barn has its own secluded landscaped area for dining al fresco or just for relaxing and watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Care has been taken to ensure access for those with restricted mobility providing bedrooms and wet room showers on the ground floor. The barns can accommodate an individual family of up to 7 people or are ideal for larger extended family holidays by booking barns that are adjacent to each other (subject to availability of course). The barns do not have connecting doors.

Child Friendly Facilities

The barns are located down a private 1/4 mile driveway and this provides a secluded and safe environment, free from passing traffic for children to play. To the front of the barns there is a large grassed area for relaxing and playing. There is a wildlife pond which is fenced off to provide safety for children.  There is also a dedicated enclosed children's play area with swings, a slide and climbing frame. Cots, highchairs and stairgates are provided as standard, however additional baby friendly measures such as bottle warmers, baby baths and baby monitors can also be made available.

Family Activities

Pembrokeshire offers a wealth of places to visit and things to do ranging from the outdoor activity based to more cultural and historical attractions.  The Blue Flag beach at Newgale, one of Britain's best beaches , is only 3 miles away.Great surfing, kitesurfing, sea kayaking, horse riding and fishing can be enjoyed locally. Some incredible bird and other wildlife watching opportunities can be found in Pembrokeshire too. Nature reserves dot the local countryside and the offshore Islands are well worth a visit - Ramsey Island is home to the largest grey seal colony in southern Britain, and don't miss the puffins on Skomer!  The Pembrokeshire Coast Path passes close by, at Penycwm, and the Celtic Trail long distance cycle route passes within a mile of the eco barns, helping make this a great place to stay for hikers and cyclists.
