Bythynnod Bryn Caled Cottages
Bythynnod Bryn Caled Cottages offer three individual cottages in unspoilt North Wales countryside within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. It’s ideal for family breaks and is also a perfect romantic retreat. You may relax in the hot tubs once the kids are asleep with a glass of bubbly having made use of the cottages as a base to explore the magic of North Wales.
Llyn Tegid, which is the largest natural lake in Wales is a mile away and there are many superb walks in the area.

We are recently new parents and were looking to have a break not too far away so we could drive but were looking for somewhere that was kids friendly. We had a list of requirements mainly a Cot, Highchair, Microwave and two bedrooms. We got recommended a web site called www.awaywiththekids.com by a friend. We researched the options on the website for North Wales and saw Bythynnod Bryncalled Cottages. We decided to book the Carreg Y Nant cottage.
When we arrived we were greeted by not only the breath taking views of the Bala Valley but a very modern 5* cottage with a complimentary homemade Lemon Drizzle cake. The cottage is in a fantastic location with ample car parking space, play area to the side for the children and a hot tub in the back garden which was amazing.
The cottage has an open plan downstairs area with a kitchen, WC, dining room and lounge area with TV, there is a DVD player so next time we will take some DVD’s with us for the evenings. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms both with en suite (showers no bath) again all very modern and very well presented. There were even Robes for each bedroom which you can use after the hot tub. The cottage could easily accommodate two couples, two couples with babies or one family.
The cottage is located at the top of the lake in a very friendly village which is about 1 mile away. You could possibly walk to the village across the fields but we drove as we had a pram. We had a day around Bala where we took the steam train in to the town from the village and had lunch. We also had a day out at Betsw Y Coed which was a short drive away.
Sioned is the cottage host and lives in the main farm house nearby. Sioned offers a fantastic food delivery service and we ordered a meal one evening which was amazing! All made with local produce and very hearty portions. Sioned cooks the food and delivers it to your door at the time you request! We were fortunate to have the sunshine throughout our stay but I can imagine this location also being very stunning in the winter too.
We will be booking again soon as this is an ideal location for a break away.
