Cheviot View is a luxury self-catering holiday cottage, part of a complex of 14 luxurious holiday cottages, near Alnwick on the edge of Northumberland National Park. Recently completed in May 2009, it is the largest holiday home at Burnfoot and boasts stunning views of the Cheviot Hills. With five double bedrooms and beautifully appointed throughout, a family party of 10 (plus cots) can be accommodated with ease. Farrow & Ball paintwork is featured throughout; colours are warm and muted making for a most relaxed environment. The quality of the decor and furnishings are plain to see yet Cheviot View has also been designed to cater the needs of a young family with travel cots, stair gates and high chairs freely available.
A huge open-plan kitchen /dining room with a featured glass wall opening on to a terrace enables you to enjoy the exceptional views towards the Cheviots. The oak kitchen units complement an oak dining table with seating for ten guests. The well-equipped kitchen has a large range cooker with integrated appliances, including dishwasher and microwave and every utensil an aspiring chef might require. For chefs who would like a night off, the award-winning delicatessen and independent grocer, Tully's of Rothbury, can deliver food and beverages, including organic ready-to-eat meals, direct to all the holiday cottages at Burnfoot.
On the ground floor a large double bedroom with en-suite, tucked away from the main living areas is ideal for less mobile members of the party. On the first floor the stunning master bedroom suite can be found with a spacious en-suite shower room. Undoubtedly the best room at Burnfoot, this room features a 12 feet high floor-to-ceiling glass wall for guests to enjoy the enviable views of the Cheviots, with no distracting neighbouring property in sight! With exposed beams, a solid oak king-size bed with matching furniture, including a dressing table, and even a leather sofa from which to enjoy the views completes the picture. A further three twin bedrooms are on the first floor with a large family bathroom and separate enclosed shower. All twin bedrooms have zip-link beds so that they can be made up as doubles if preferred and all feature restored original beams with private views over the burn and towards the Cheviots. All bed linen, towels, heating, electricity and logs are included in the rent.
There is a large designated play area for children where they can run off steam and enjoy outdoor games safely in the grounds. Although there are steams in the area these cannot be accessed without scaling a wall or stile. Burnfoot is truly a special place to discover Mother Nature at her best. As well as feeding ponies children's love of animals can be inspired by the wildlife easily spotted in nearby proximity to the cottages - from otters and kingfishers to badgers and owls and numerous species in between. There is use of a new tennis court for all guests to enjoy.
You may simply want to relax, stay put and appreciate your surroundings however there are a range of activities to suit all ages. From the farm stead you can try pony trekking; cycling along the off-road Pennine Cycleway; or walking - a footpath leads directly to the Cheviots. Close by are an 18 hole golf course and renowned trout and salmon fishing. With a wealth of family attractions in the surrounding area you will have a tough choice deciding where to go first. Choose from the award winning Alnwick Garden with its magical treehouse restaurant, the golden beaches of the Northumbrian coast, Bamburgh complete with castle, Farne Islands, Hadrian's Wall, Holy Island (Lindisfarne), Morpeth, Seahouses, and the Scottish Borders; all within a short drive.
