About Champs des Lombardes
Champs des Lombardes comprises one beautiful Lotois stone cottage and a converted barn, set in three acres of beautiful grounds and just outside the hamlet of Labastide du Vert in the Lot region, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Both are superbly child-friendly cottages with toys supplied for indoor and outdoor play, including dressing up boxes, swings, climbing frames, a heated pool and room to roam - the makings of much, much fun!
Champs des Lombards comprises two fabulously child-friendly cottages - Tiggy cottage and the Cotton House (yes, Beatrix Potter inspired) - set in three acres of beautiful grounds just outside the hamlet of Labastide du Vert in the Lot region, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Both cottages form a special family hideaway for two families. Set in an elevated position with extensive country views and surrounded by three acres of gentle undulating grounds and gardens the grounds are ideal for running wild and kid's natural play... freedom to roam, what a luxury!
The Cotton House
Old stone steps climb to a stunning covered terrace overlooking the beautiful grounds and gardens, a wonderful setting for morning breakfast and special evening meals with a view. As you enter The Cotton House at first floor level, into a large open plan kitchen, dining lounge area you have a sense of real French farmhouse living. Stairs lead down to two bedrooms on the ground floor, one double and one twin (sleeping two children in small single beds and one cot) along with a little play area (with a toy box) in the hallway that remains cool all summer long. There is a shower room with baby bath and a separate toilet room.
Tiggy Cottage is an old converted small barn with exposed stone brickwork and beams. Entering at ground level into an open plan lounge / dining area you can walk directly out onto your own private terrace which is fenced for little ones and overlooks the grounds and gardens. There is a separate kitchen set off the lounge area and wooden stairs leading up to the beamed high ceiling landing on first floor level. The cottage has two bedrooms; one double and one twin (sleeping two children in single beds and one cot) with a large open plan bathroom complete with both bath and shower.
The cottages have been set up specifically with families with children in mind. Everything you may need for the kids has been thought of, from cots and high chairs to changing mats, baby monitors and baby gyms. There is an extensive list of equipment available that you may select when booking - that could mean there's room for a couple of additional boxes on the way back - it is of course your choice as to what they may contain!
Whilst you relax and given the facilities you WILL get the chance to wind down, the kids can swim, run, play and explore - for family adventure the surrounding area is perfect "expetition" country!
The gardens have been designed to hide a magical discovery at every turn; from the small Indian village nestled near to the bamboo complete with wigwams, to the trampoline, pirate ship sandpit, climbing frame and swing.
Then there's the pool, the hub of much activity and hilarity in my experience - this pool is heated and fenced and has sunloungers and parasols/gazebos for you all to enjoy - it's conveniently set near to both properties.
A toy box is thoughtfully provided in each gite. Imaginative play and dressing up is a big part of the magic of Champs des Lombardes and the Pagel concept (see Pagel's separate listing) and there are many outfits to choose, from fairies to Snow White to Pirates and Cowboys.
Should you fancy a real treat a candle lit romantic evening can be organised complete with a local chef delivering your special dinner - and icing on cake, the chef will also deliver your childrens tea if required so NO cooking involved.
Welcome folders detail local restaurants and places for great days out for all.
Labastide du Vert has a Boulangerie and a little cafe for those morning croissants and is only 10 minutes drive from the wonderful small town of Praysaac, which hosts a fantastic local market every Friday morning and has an array of cafes, restaurants and local shops. Cahors, the main town, is twenty minutes drive and is vibrant with a beautiful medieval centre and a weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday morning.
Cottages are available from 4pm on Fridays. You will be welcomed on site by the English Manager who will be available on site twice weekly for a few hours to look after the pool and be of any assistance.
