Compton Pool Farm originates from the 12th century and has been lovingly converted into 10 child friendly cottages each with its own character. The largest can accommodate a family of 11, the smallest perfect for new parents with a baby. Also superb for families who wish to holiday together and have a choice in the size of accommodation required. The owners John and Ann Stocks having four children of their own understand the importance of quality family holidays. With this in mind the cottages are finished to an excellent standard, and well equipped with high quality appliances, utensils and furnishings. The attention to detail here makes self-catering a pleasure and has been recognised as such by the numerous awards Compton Pool Farm has won.
You will be met by a warm and friendly welcome. Having been shown around your cottage you will be left in peace to enjoy your holiday, though there is usual someone available on site most days if required. Ann and John are keen to promote sustainable tourism and provide information about local independent services, and also provide easy-to-use recycling facilities.
The stunning grounds and gardens are fantastic to be able to stroll around at your leisure which is teaming with wildlife. Within the 14 acres there are 5 lakes, 2 of which are well stocked with fish, including mirror carp, common carp, rudd, roach and tench. Guests are welcome to fish using their own equipment. The woodland area is fenced and gated for safety reasons, but is easily accessible to parents and accompanied children.
The farm setting is complete with the provision of excellent facilities. The indoor swimming pool (open all year round from 8am until 9pm) is large enough to accommodate several families, and has showers, a sauna and convenient changing rooms. There's a sun terrace alongside the pool which is well positioned for a spot of afternoon sunbathing. Should you feel the urge, you can keep fit on holiday in the well appointed gym with a selection of the latest exercise equipment or maybe a leisurely game of tennis. The spacious barn houses table tennis, pool and table football and is a great distraction for the kids when the weather is not at its best.
There is a large grassed children's play area behind the cottages where a wonderful selection of play equipment is provided including trampolines, swings, slides and go-karts. The children will relish feeding the resident animals each day. Goats, pigs and chickens have spacious paddocks near to the play area, all friendly and a source of great joy to children and adults alike.
Everything at Compton Pool Farm has been so well thought of, even down to the laundry room which is very handy when on holiday with kids.
Compton Pool Farm is ideally situated for families wishing to explore the numerous beaches in Devon, the National Park of Dartmoor and an array of tourist attractions for all the family. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, but only minutes from supermarkets, restaurants and other convenient facilities. You are going to have a fantastic time exploring the area.
