About Cresta Court Hotel, Altrincham

The 3 star Cresta Court Hotel, Altrincham is part of the Best Western Hotel chain. Situated in a leafy suburb it is an ideal place for families wanting a base visiting loved ones in Manchester and also being 4 miles away from the airport it is the ideal stop off before venturing off to sunnier climates. The Cresta Court is just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Altrincham with a whole host of high street shops, restaurants, a cinema and an ice rink. Altrincham has a direct tram link to Manchester - just a 20 minutes ride to one of my favourite cities to explore with kids. Visit the Chill Factore, Legoland Discovery Centre and a whole host of child friendly museums..

The Cresta Court Hotel is an ideal choice for surrounding attractions such as The Trafford Centre, Manchester United Football Club and Lancashire Cricket Ground while also being an ideal location for families flying from/into Manchester Airport. The hotel is a two minute walk from Altrincham Metrolink station and just a twenty minute tram journey from Manchester City Centre. The hotel also provides free wi-fi throughout all public areas and rooms.

The Cresta Court Hotel is easy to find just off the A56 into Altrincham from the M60 motorway and on arrival we found a parking space with ease. The girl on reception was extremely pleasant and we were checked in without delay.

The Accommodation

The hotel rooms vary greatly in size and décor so if you really want the latest refurbished rooms it may be wise to pay extra for an executive suite. We were in a large family room that had a double bed and bathroom to the left and to the right through a open doorway there was a further two steel bunkbeds with a spacious area to sit and chill out in front of the second TV, with tea and coffee making facilities. There was also room to put up another single bed if needed so that a family of 7 could be accommodated comfortably. The décor was a bit dated and the Formica furniture across the two rooms did not match but overall the room was clean and we spent a very comfortable night there. Blackout curtains kept the room very dark. Portable fans were provided, as the rooms did not have air conditioning. We managed to get a good nights rest, however I don't think there were any functions or weddings at the hotel that particular night.

For Babies

Cots and highchairs can be provided and there is a bottle warming service if required.

For Children

We saw no evidence of any toys or books so I would advise to take your own backpack of travel games to keep the kids amused. Funnily enough Hannah thought she would be getting a free Wii Fit to use however she misread the reception sign - "free Wi-Fi for all guests". There is a computer room on the ground floor that was available for use.

Restaurant

The girls loved their evening meal - Hannah selected from the very reasonable priced kids menu and Emily choose a chicken pasta dish from the main menu, which the chef kindly served smaller portion of. A two course meal for adults is from £14.95.

Breakfast is served from 7.30 and is a buffet style with a huge choice from a hot full English, cereals, fresh juice and patisseries.

Location

A short walk takes you into Altrincham town centre with a choice of high street brands, coffee shops and restaurants. Altrincham also boasts its own ice skating rink and a cinema. A 20 minute tram journey takes you right into the vibrant Manchester city centre. There is a whole host of family friendly events and festivals throughout the year. Or for the more adventurous why not discover the Chill factore where you can learn how to ski or snow board on real snow. The shopaholics dream is the Trafford Centre where you have all the well know brands under one roof. And just next door to the Trafford Centre is the Legoland Discovery Centre. Manchester has some wonderful child friendly museums - The Manchester Museum with its fantastic dinosaur display, the Museum of Science and Industry and the Imperial War Museum. Manchester Art Gallery has Clore Interactive Gallery- a floor of hands on exhibits for children and free family backpacks are available for family groups with children aged between seven and twelve.
