Crugaren is found in the heart of the Lleyn Peninsula and just ¼ of a mile from the village of Sarn Mellteyrn with its pottery, tea rooms, and three good pubs (one of which offers food), as well as a small playing field which can be reached by a pleasant walk through one of the farm fields.
Crugeran's Farm first and foremost, is a working farm raising beef, sheep and growing cereal crops. The owners Rhian Parry and her family live on the farm alongside the 4 and 5 star graded holiday cottages that have been converted from the original farm outbuildings. As this is a working farm with lots of heavy equipment and cattle, it is not advisable for guests to wander around the working part which is only accessible by crossing a main road, away from the holiday cottages. However your lovely host, Rhian is more than happy to discuss and organise a personal tour around the farm for her guests, as she feels it important to highlight to the kids what life on a working farm is all about. The yard behind the cottages is home to the family rabbit and pony, which of course can be petted at any time. The farm cat and dog can be spotted enjoying the sunshine and minding their own business, completes the animal menagerie.
The Holiday Cottages
There are three cottages available for holidays here at Crugeran. These quality self catering holiday cottages converted from old farm buildings can accommdate 4, 5 and 7 guests. All three cottages have been very tastefully decorated in keeping with their character with a number of antique furniture throughout. A travel cot, high chair and safety gate can be requested if needed. There are CD/Hifi systems and DVD players in all the cottages - something for you to relax with in the evenings or if it's a rainy day. A stash of books DVDs and videos can be found in the Laundry room.
The Grounds and Play Equipment
The garden also offers barbeque facilities, swings, a slide, football goals, a den and playhouse and a fantastic trampoline - a huge favourite with children of all ages! The garden is enclosed and safe and is fantastic for the kids to be able to run off and play whilst parents can easily keep a watchful eye on them from the cottages.
Large Family Holiday Cottages
A mile down the road there is a large farmhouse available for up to 12 holiday guests which oozes charm and character and has its own enclosed grounds with play equipment. Set in gorgeous countryside with those lovely views it provides the perfect stay for families to come together in one place and have happy times. You can even bring the family pet here with you, as the farmhouse Bodnitho excepts well behaved dogs.
An exciting development is currently underway for two further large holiday cottages that will accommodate 10 - 14 guests each. Available to let from Xmas 2011 they will provide quality accommodation with bags of space for family/friends to holiday together but also room for the individual to have time to themselves and relax. Converted from old farm buildings that are at least 150 years old, you can see the work in progress on the owner's website.
Nearby Places to Visit
Abersoch, Aberdaron, Nefyn and all the beautiful sandy beaches of the peninsula are all close at hand with the nearest beach being 3 ½ miles away. Walking, golf, sea fishing trips and plenty of water sport facilities are available here. The market town of Pwllheli, the resort of Criccieth and Porthmadog as well as numerous historic and scenic attractions such as the Snowdonia National Park , Ffestiniog Railway, castles and the Italian village of Portmeirion are all easily reached from Crugeran Farm Holidays.
