The seven family gites give you a chance to relax and unwind, sit back with a glass of wine in the summer breeze and let the kids play, explore and make friends. There is so much to do in the local area, from fabulous sandy beaches to medieval towns - the Willis' have come up with an ideal holiday plan for us parents and our children too!

Come rain or shine, the kids can swim in the heated swimming pools, which feature a UV filtered dome cover.
Oodles of play areas, ride ons, trampolines, climbing frames, swings, slides for the kids to play explore.
A personal and friendly service from the owners, who pride themselves on giving personal tourist recommendations and making bookings on your behalf. Nothing is too much trouble.

Top tips

Take advantage of the handy "Meal on Arrival" service which takes away the angst of cooking a meal after a long journey.
If you’re travelling by ferry, you will receive a 20% discount on a Brittany Ferries crossing.
Don’t bring all the baby paraphernalia with you - high chairs, travel cots, bedding, sterilisers, bed guards and monitors can be provided free of charge. Just ask when you make a booking.

We had such a relaxing time knowing that our boys could play in complete safety. There was plenty to do in the local area but we spent most of the time around our gite because the kids just loved it.

Rooms

The seven traditional farm cottages have been renovated to a high standard with a homely, but contemporary feel. They all feature the expected mod cons, including dishwashers, Satellite TV and DVD players. There are luxurious touches throughout such as quality linens, robes and REN products.

Eat

At Emerald Coast Gites, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating. Each type of accommodation provides fully equipped kitchens and private terraces with BBQs. While self-catering gives you the flexibility to cook around the family’s needs, sometimes it is nice to have a night off.

The thoughtfully provided service of Plat du Jours gives you just that. Booked the night before, it is delivered to your gite, freshly cooked that day. Alternatively, there is a snack menu which can be delivered to the gites or in the bar. In addition, there are several soirees each week, such as galette and crepe night, pizza night, fruit de mer evening and cheese and wine nights.

Activities

The most popular activity will undoubtedly be the swimming pool. For toddlers there is also an additional smaller paddling pool for them to enjoy. The pool is covered, so it can be enjoyed whatever the weather. Kids will also love the outdoor play areas. There is multi-activity play centre for the older kids, with swings, slides, two towers and a climbing wall. Plus a play area designated for under-threes.

Should the weather have an off day then kids can escape to the games room with a pool table, table tennis, table football and Nintendo Wii. A stash of board games, books and DVDs can be found here that you are welcome to borrow.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

The driving times to Emerald Coast Gites from some of the most popular landing points in France are as follows: Cherbourg is under three hours; Paris and Dieppe around four and from Calais, it takes five.

By Air

Dinard Airport is closest to the Gites, approximately a 40 minute drive away.

By Rail

Gare TGV Lamballe is 10km away, and the EuroTunnel is a 550 km drive – approximately five hours.

By Sea

Enjoy 20% discount on Brittany Ferries – once you book Emerald Gites will send you a discount code to use. If you have already booked your crossing this can be applied retrospectively. The closest ports that Brittany Ferries service are St Malo, Roscoff, Caen, Cherbourg and Le Havre.

12 years ago, when Sam was only two years old and Lesley was pregnant with Evie, we left Blighty and headed to the beautiful Brittany countryside to pursue our dream of converting and running a gorgeous French farm as a family friendly cottage cluster. We are really proud of what we have achieved and love the French way of life!

Owner recommendations

Don’t miss a visit to Chateau de la Hunaudaye, a renovated medieval chateaux where the kids can dress up as knights or princesses.
Bzh Wake Park is a brand new wakeboarding centre where you can try boarding and water ski-ing amongst other things.
The aquarium at St Malo has a little submarine tour the kids love and is particularly good for a rainy day.
Cobac Parc is a theme and water park about 40 minutes away – our children love it!
The kids can play for hours at Petit Mont St Michel as there are endless things to do – climb, crab, dig, make sandcastles, run, play, swim, walk to the chapel and then at low tide a beautiful turquoise shallow lagoon is created.
