About Fisherground Campsite

Kids will love playing on the rafts or running around the adventure playground. An ideal spot to camp and enjoy the beauty of the Lake District.

This peaceful family site, right in the heart of Eskdale, caters mainly for families and groups with children. It really is a children's paradise, with rafts on the pond, a tree house, a zip wire, Tarzan ropes, and an adventure playground. The site has it’s own station on the fantastic Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Steam Railway, which little ones will love. Enjoy toasted marshmallows on a campfire - allowed in the allocated areas. Open from 1st March until the last Sunday in October.

Fisherground Campsite is set right in the heart of Eskdale, one of Cumbria's loveliest valleys. An excellent family campsite based on the West side of the Lake District that is unspoilt by tourism with some lovely scenic walks from the site. It is a 9 acre site which accepts tents, trailer tents, campervans and motorhomes (unfortunately not touring caravans). Now for the fun bit - children will need plenty of spare clothes and wellies!!! On fine days they can spend many fun hours on the rafting pond ,but you can be assured kids will get wet, muddy and cold. Footwear is advisable as parts of it are rocky, as well as close adult supervision. A large adventure playground complete with a zip wires, Tarzan ropes and a tree houses makes this a children‘s paradise. And of course, not forgetting you have direct access to your very own station on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Minature Railway. If you have little ones it is worth every penny as a ticket buys you unlimited use for the day. It is 7 miles long and connects with Ravenglass mainline station.

The Service Block is modern, clean, airy and spacious. It has coin operated showers which are 2 minutes for 50p. Ensure you have a good supply or else you will be caught short with soapy hair. Top tip - don't put two in at once as you won't get double time. The laundry room has a washing machine, three tumble driers. Most of the machines are coin operated and again, take 50p's. There is also a boot drier for those of you who love walking whatever the weather.

No onsite shop for bread and milk means the local village shop and post office, Eskdale Stores, comes in handy. It sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers. If you are staying for a week it might be worth visiting Whitehaven for a day out and stocking up on supplies there as all the big superstores can be found there. There are lots of pubs within walking distance but in particular The Boot Inn in Boot is child friendly and serves excellent home cooked meals with a selection of real ales. They allow dogs in the pub, and have a lovely beer garden. If the weather is nice head for Drigg beach,7 miles away, a lovely beach with miles of sand and dunes. Local Muncaster Castle, is a good day out with its azaleas, rhododendrons and Owl Sanctuary. The majority of the Lake District attractions are within an hours drive and the site owners are only to happy to advise where to go.

Fisherground Campsite now take a limited amount of bookings. Bookings are also taken if you require electric hook ups - a £10 deposit will be required. There is a minimum of 2 nights stay for weekends during the Summer Holidays and 3 nights on a Bank Holiday. Enjoy a glass of wine under the stars sat around a roaring campfire. Fires must remain within the wheel rims provided, but there are plenty dotted all round the site. You can buy fire wood from the site, £4.00 per bag of logs, 50p for kindling. Dogs are to be kept on a lead at all times and cleaned up after. They should be exercised off the site.
