At the tip of Sinai, Sharm El Sheikh is now a world-renowned snorkelling and scuba diving destination. The Ras Mohamed National Park protects this area's unique ecosystems both on shore and at sea - that equates to 90 metres of vertical reefs and many mountains to explore.
Accommodation
The Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh has 136 guest rooms, including 27 suites. 61 luxurious residential suites and 3 residential villas offer greater space and amenities and are ideal for families and groups of friends. All guest rooms and suites feature a private balcony or terrace and most have stunning views of the sea.
Beautifully furnished and equipped with all you might expect each room also has a refrigerated private bar, perfect for milk storage (!), a choice of Down or Hypo-allergenic pillows, iron and ironing board, DVD with DVD library available, wired or wi-fi internet access and joy of joys a twice-daily housekeeping service - now that's a holiday for me!
Places to Eat
Eating here is easy - dine in any of 5 restaurants, in a relaxing lounge or the privacy of your room. The Gezira features a swim-up bar and casual outdoor dining for snacks during the day. The Reef Grill, overlooking the Red Sea, offers grills, healthy salads and light fare at lunch. For dinner, the menu includes a wide variety of prime cuts, fresh seafood and fine wines.
A Babysitting service is available for children, age over 12 months, chargeable by the hour - it could be the perfect excuse to take a more refined and perhaps even romantic meal!
Kids menus are comprehensive and excellent; complimentary meals are given to children between the age of 0 to 4, menus are available in all outlets for those 5 to 12 - a 50% discount is offered on buffet nights.
General Facilities
Included: a variety of fitness classes - aqua aerobics, absolute abdominal and yoga; Kids For All Seasons, a full-day children's programme; spa facilities, including gym, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, lap pool and complimentary cold teas, water and fruit; and a coffee service, including three types of tea, coffee and bottled water, refreshed daily.
The heated free-form freshwater swimming pool is approximately 1,000 square metres and has an outdoor whirlpool as well as a landscaped pool deck, island bar, private canvas cabanas, underwater music and views of the Red Sea.
Children's Facilities
Babies (0-3). The hotel has EVERYTHING you could need - from nappies and baby food to a baby basket with apron, Baby shampoo and wipes with additional items such as bed guards or a push-chair, steriliser or safety plugs provided on request. It's fab and you will breathe such a sigh of relief!
Children get their own slippers (up to age 12), a T-shirt and a robe which will help with the inevitable "I want to be like Mummy" game nicely and might even save your best frock for a day! All children are welcomed with a glass of juice, cookies and a colouring book - older kids get Pop Corn & Ice tea - to give you a chance to get semi-organised.
In room dining ensures that melt down "I need calories" times are not a problem.
On Site Activities
Children's programmes are based on age range and although subject to change the Kids Club, for Children between 4 and 8 years or 9 to 12 years, is ordinarily open from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily.
Activities include; Face painting, Story Time and Arts & Crafts Puzzle, Boules, a Treasure hunt, Pool Games, Yoga, Hair Braiding, Jungle Gym, Mini Chef Class, Tennis, Football, T-Shirt Decoration, Manicures, Belly Dance Classes, Talent Show, Sandcastle or Ship Building, Arabic Lessons, Fish Talk - the list goes on...
A Tennis programme is available for children of all ages and ability. Similarly the on site Dive Center offers Water Sports including water skiing, wakeboarding or site snorkeling. 9 - 12 year olds may become Bubbler makers when diving or snorkeling for beginners.
If they ever say they were bored be amazed!
Offsite Activities
There's a long list including Dolphinella, Camel Safari, Quad Biking, Aqua Parks, Horse Ridding, Submarines, Glass bottom Boat and Go Karting.
Alternatively take a day trip out and see the sights of Cairo, St. Catherine's Monastery, Luxor or Petra. Then there's that 90 metres of reef to explore - and the mountains of course.
