Glenmore - Forest Family Holiday, Perthshire
Glenmore Caravan & Camping Site, Glenmore, Aviemore, Inverness-shire
In the heart of the Cairngorms and open all year, Glenmore is a perfect location for a chilled out family camping break. The views are truly spectacular with local native wildlife spotting adding more fun for the kids as they go to find deer, otters and perhaps even golden eagles. For those particularly lucky, you might even spot a rare pine marten.
Glenmore Forest contains one of the few remaining pockets of ancient Caledonian Pinewood where major conservation work is being undertaken to preserve this important habitat. I love trees at the best of times but this place does feel quite magical.
The local tourist office is a stroll across the road where you will find a helpful array of inspiring stuff to do whilst in the area, including spectacular hill walks, mountain climbs and high ropes through the trees.
If wanting some time out then Glenmore is such a very relaxed place for ambling through the woodland, skimming stones and building dens, playing on the beach or paddling in Loch Morlich. Ranger Activities are available on the site if you want to be a ranger for the day! There are many scenic walking and cycling trails that can be accessed directly from the site.
The town of Aviemore is a 15 minute drive away and has a good selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and a supermarket. Rothiemurcus cafe is well worth a visit any time of the day - the food is excellent and the shop full of delectable things to eat and stuff for the kdis to collect!
Premium pitches are available on site and Fido is welcome to join you too - that is if Fido is a dog!
