Hotel Tresanton, Cornwall

A Splendid Luxurious Family Hotel, St.Mawes, Cornwall

A stay at the Tresanton is a treat!  This discreetly luxurious and elegant hotel is popular not only due its fabulous location in St.Mawes, Cornwall but also down to the warm welcome and extremely accommodating staff who strive to ensure you have the best stay possible – the only problem you might have is not wanting to leave!

Accommodation

The hotel has 29 rooms, including 2 stunning family suites that can accommodate up to three children - both with their own terrace. The rooms are gorgeously and elegantly decorated, as you'd expect from someone whose life is so involved with design - all have been individually furnished combining antiques with local art and interesting things to look at - you'll leave inspired or envious - in either case you'll be appreciative!

In addition to the family suites there are four inter-connecting rooms and seven that can easily fit a cot or extra bed.

The children's playroom houses a selection of toys and flat screen tv complete with DVDs and videos for those times where it's just necessary! Outdoors the lovely play cottage awaits discovery and will help while away many happy hours whilst you perhaps relax and enjoy the fine views.

During summer holidays a childminder is available to take the children to do wondrous things like crabbing (I still get a thrill when my string tugs) or disappearing off to the small and safe beach across from the hotel.

Baby-sitting is available when booked in advance; there is also a listening service via the telephone system in your room.

Facilities

The hotel has a cinema where the kids can have their own screen show, a fantastic bar perfect for chilling out and mulling over life in and a wonderfully comfy sitting room that you really can curl up and relax in. It's not every day you have access to a stunning yacht but should you wish, between Easter and the end of September, Tresanton's skipper will take you on a decadent sailing around Falmouth Bay in the hotel's "Pinuccia", a 48 foot classic. A speed boat is also available for those with unreliable tummies that would just like to get to the nearest unpopulated beach - with a perfectly prepared picnic basket from the kitchen.

Food

Dining at the Tresanton is a treat. It starts with the under-stated room that has terrace on two sides providing a lovely aspect and fabulous views across the Bay, as well as an opportunity to dine al fresco weather permitting. Not that you will be distracted from the delicious food which is expertly prepared with a natural bias to fish and other local produce. The menu changes daily.

Children's high tea is available from 5.30 to 6.30pm. Children over 6 are able to join their parents for dinner - preferably early doors however, as meal times at the Tresanton are an occasion to be savoured and kids definitely have a limit!

Lunch is £26.50 for two courses and £35 for three. Dinner is £42 for three courses.

To Do

There are some fantastic walks along the coastal paths - pushchairs do beware - this is where the Bush-Baby carrier comes into it's own! Alternatively take a boat or ferry to Falmouth, the beautiful Trelissick Gardens (well-worth a day's roaming) or Truro. The Tate Gallery, Eden Project and National Maritime Museuem are all worthy day trips - the beautiful beaches will lure you for the remainder of your time!
