About Le Bois Coudrais
Le Bois Coudrais is a gem of a find with four cosy, traditional French gîtes and a small campsite with one pre-erected large tent available to rent. There is lots on-site to keep the children amused with the heated outdoor pool, play areas, lots of resident animals to feed and the café/ bar area is the perfect spot for parents to have a cheeky beer. Le Bois Coudrais is ideally located for the ferry port at St Malo, with numerous historic towns, castles and countless beautiful beaches to discover.
Le Bois Coudrais is the perfect place for little ones to have fun, meet new friends and run around, whilst parents get the chance to relax. It is nestled in a tiny hamlet that feels very secluded but is only a short drive from the bustling, traditional Breton town of Combourg in Northern Brittany. This gem of a place, owned and run by Claire and Philippe Ybert, a charming couple from Jersey, is just the most delightful place you could discover in Northern France.
The holiday gîtes/cottages
This small cluster of family friendly gites are converted farm outbuildings. The well-appointed gites retain much of the character of the original buildings including oak beams, exposed stonework, and granite fireplaces, which have been combined with modern conveniences making them ideal French holiday cottages. The open-plan living areas decked out with wood burning stoves are super places to relax in and are cosy all year round. The gites are furnished with the needs of young families in mind, simple not luxury, so you can relax even more and there is a wide range of baby/toddler equipment available. The Bakery is the only detached, holiday cottage, whilst the other three are linked and they are all conveniently located near the swimming pool. Each cottage has an individual patio area with a table, chairs and BBQ, making it perfect for relaxing after a hard day of exploring the local area or having fun in the on site swimming pool. Wi-fi is available throughout the site. There are boardgames, books and dvd's to borrow from reception.
The child friendly campsite
Le Bois Coudrais has 25 well maintained, grassy pitches (19 with electrical hook ups nearby), some separated by young shrubs, others with mature trees. Set away from the gites, they are spread over three small fields, one for tents with an area set aside for ball games. The bright shower block is spotlessly clean with free hot showers and good washing-up facilities. It also has laundry facilities, which are handy when camping with kids. This is the ideal camp site for families with young children. It is big enough for them to feel like they have independence but small enough to make lots of friends and be safe.
Campsite Tarifs Pitch: €12.00 Adult: € 4.00 Child: (0 to 14) € 3.00 Dog: € 1.00 Electric (10amp): €4.00 Tax de sejour: € 0.20c per night, per person over 14yrs. Minimum advanced reservation during height of season is 3 nights.
The heated swimming pool is such a hit with families in the warm weather. It is 12m x 6m and is heated from mid May to September, surrounded by fencing for safety and accessed by a gate.
An enclosure, home to a group of friendly goats and some chickens, is a magnet for children who are welcome to help pet and feed them.
There is a small bar and cafe on site where you can order a nice cold drink or ice cream throughout the day and in the evening, takeaway fries or light meals, to go with your barbecue or even save yourself from cooking at all after a busy day out. During the peak summer months you can order your fresh bread and croissants in the campsite reception.
