About Llanfendigaid Estate
A beautiful large period property with a further three smaller barn conversions in a perfect location for an extended family get-together
Llanfendigaid Estate, located on the west coast of Wales in the Snowdonia National Park, is a mid-Georgian period house that is steeped in history. This magnificent Grade II* listed 9 bedroom holiday home that sleeps 17, is the largest of four self catering properties on the estate with shared acess to an indoor heated swimming pool, lovely gardens and bluebell woodland. Stable Cottage, Dove Cottage and The Cow Shed are all beautifully converted barns. The estate boasts magnificent southern Snowdonia scenery close to the mountain of Cader Idris, yet is just half-a-mile from the sea, with access to a secluded sand and shingle beach. The local area is full of interest – Aberdyfi (with its famous links golf course), the narrow-gauge Talyllyn Railway and romantic, ruined Castell y Bere are all close by.
Standing proudly on the LLanfendigaid Estate, located at the end of a private gated driveway, Llanfendigaid certainly strikes a handsome picture against the backdrop of the stunning Welsh scenery. A further three more intimate holiday cottages are found within a short distance behind the main house.
Llanfendigaid – 9 bedrooms sleeps 17
This large holiday home just cries out for an organised family get-together and you can earn yourself brownie points when you show this beauty to your nearest and dearest. Llanfendigaid is listed as a Grade II* property which means it is recognised as having exceptional historic relevance. It is a holiday home packed to the rafters with antiques, history and character. With lots of nooks and crannies its perfect for a fabulous game of hide and seek and who knows - they may be a way to Narnia through one of the wardrobes. The interior, has been subject to much more recent improvements, yet still retaining all the expected period features of a historic family house, with panelled walls, a grand tiled entrance hall and a sedate drawing room. There are four double bedrooms and one twin on the first floor, and one double, two twins and a small single on the second floor. The bedrooms are stunning, each one different with their own character and story. The house boasts two wood burning stoves to complement the oil central heating so it is cosy and warm whatever the season and no country kitchen is complete without the Aga cooker. Cots, highchairs and stairgates are all available to borrow.
Dove cottage and adjacent Stable cottage are both delightful 2 bedroom properties packed full of character and charm. Dove Cottage is a pretty 'upside down' stone barn conversion with the living accommodation above the bedrooms and it is furnished to a high standard. Stable Cottage has central heating that is run entirely from the large wood burner in the living area and unlike Dove Cottage, it is a traditional layout with the bedrooms upstairs. There are no carpets in the property and it has a fully enclosed garden which means that unlike Llanfendigaid and Dove Cottage, it is suitable for a maximum of two well behaved dogs. The most recently converted Cow Shed is the oldest building on the estate and has been painstakingly modernised without losing the charm of the original building. Sleeping a family of 6 in 3 bedrooms it is a delightful and spacious addition to the Llanfendigaid portfolio. The Cow Shed is south facing and the courtyard is sheltered from all the main winds and always catches whatever sun is available so is unusually warm and private. The Cow Shed is also dog friendly and can take two well behaved dogs as part of your family booking.
