Moonfleet Manor, Dorset
Fleet, Near Weymouth, Dorset

Moonfleet is quirky and very comfortable and easy to be in - it also has the most fabulous views and places to explore close by - the kids will love it!
Moonfleet is like an old eccentric uncle's treasure trove of a home: loads of rooms to explore, loads of interesting things to look at and loads to find. It's friendly, has tons of charisma and provides a truly child-oriented, charming and comfortable base for you all. Rooms are colonial - armchairs and fabrics are faded and worn, antique furniture is used as opposed to adored.
The Luxury Family Hotel ethos is to provide a balance to enable you all to have a holiday with no compromise; therefore it's possible to have a fun, relaxed family time or enjoy time out as a couple, or alone, whilst the kids get to have the time of their lives - all within the grounds - not bad eh? The knowledge that the kids are so genuinely welcomed immediately gives you great freedom to enjoy the hotel.
The hotel comfortingly had muddy foot-prints and other evidence of children around; it provides a fabulous place to chill out and enjoy, not an immaculate environment to fret about. That's not to say Moonfleet fails - it doesn't. All the conveniences that you might expect with LFH are available - relaxed atmosphere, spa treatments, a heated indoor pool, a HUGE indoor play area with ride-on toys, games, nets and table tennis tables, a dedicated Play station/X box room for older kids, a fabulous patio/garden that's gated and safe for the kids to run around and play on the trampoline in whilst you sit and relax at a table enjoying the stunning view. Babysitting can be arranged alternatively baby listening is easy with the fabulous system that is in place.
The Ofsted registered "Four Bear's Den" provides supervised child-care to children between 3 months and around 8 years. Open between 10am and 5pm for supervised play the Den is open all year round from 8am to 8pm and is free for children to use. Sessions are limited to 2 hours at a time, although multiple visits are permissibly, but 2 hours gives you plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely lunch or stroll along the beach. There is a separate area within the crèche specifically for 'newborns'. The new secure outdoor play area gives the children the opportunity to enjoy being outdoors and you get the comfort that they are enjoying the fresh air.
Food is available to satiate you all. Everyone dines together at breakfast and lunch; there are suitable menus for the kids and puree for babies so no need to worry. In the evening, fine dining is the roder of the day were far grander British/French cuisine is prepared for you in the 2AA rosette restaurant at adult dinner time, as well as a good wine list to relax with! When the sun is out the lovely decked patio provides a sheltered sun trap where you can enjoy an al fresco lunch, dinner or perhaps a summer barbecue.
Rooms are quirky and interesting and comfortable. The Deluxe and Luxury doubles enable the kids to share a room with you in travel cots and/or z beds, alternatively if you prefer more space interconnecting rooms are available as are large suites and the huge Coach House rooms which are equipped with sofa beds. Many rooms have sea views. All have big fluffy robes, Aquae Sulis toiletries and Egyptian cotton sheets.

So on first appearances you think "Oh this isn't the luxury weekend away we thought it might be". There are repairs to do and there def isn't any homogenised hotel decor. BUT after my initial surprise at its quirkiness I began to slowly and deeply fall in love with this place. It is a home from home, the staff are excellent, friendly and soooo helpful. The facilities for those with kids are amazing, we desperately needed some child free time and were very happy to leave our lo with the fantastic staff at the creche and enjoy a spa treatment and a quiet afternoon tea by the fire(bliss). The spa therapist was lovely, we loved the dog (Snoop), the wellies in the hall, the crazy indian artifacts every room is immersed with, we loved the babysitting service, the amazing fine dining meal we had in the evening, our chat by the log fire with another couple, the swim in the pool with the big blowup whale, the bouncing in the playroom, the polar bear head, the tiger skin, the old sofas.....yeah it rained all weekend but who cares, big people and little people all were v v happy. When can we go back to holiday school says my lo? Can't wait, we will be back for Sunday lunch definitely. Lovely old Moonfleet, please don't ever change!
