One Aldwych is an award-winning, contemporary hotel and the perfect place to stay for a fun-filled family break. Located bang in the middle of London, in bustling Covent Garden, One Aldwych is ideally located for your family to discover the city's famous attractions and take in a dazzling West End show.

My oh my, what a treat this place is! A truly memorable stay, with its traditional exterior (it used to be a bank) and contemporary interior. I visited One Aldwych with my 2 kids as part of my 40th birthday treat to myself and we were certainly made to feel extra special.

We arrived quite early on a Saturday lunch time, the kids were welcomed by name and as our room was not quite ready, we were encouraged to have a drink in the light, airy and uber stylish Lobby Bar. The kids were given complimentary juice cocktails and we ordered some food. The waitress was more than happy to take ad hoc requests for food that was not on the menu Kids: ‘Have you any tomato soup?'

There was a really cool vibe about the hotel, with mainly British clientele. It felt like there was a real buzz about the place, with super efficient yet personable staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The kids were definitely not made to feel like they were cramping anyone's style as they sat people watching, over their juices, feeling very important.

We were shown around by Martina, who showed a genuine interest in the kids, engaging them in conversations about their London adventures. The rooms are my idea of perfection - minimalist and modern with huge flat screen TV - kids could have a Wii sent up to the room if they wanted. The sense of calm was added to by the very tall, elegant windows, the luxuriously appointed bathroom and Plantation toiletries. There's no need to worry about the noise from the busy street below, the windows are really well insulated to give you a good night's sleep. Throughout our stay we got immediate, attentive service from housekeeping, concierge, the waiters and in the health suite. This is not a place where you feel you've had to compromise because the kids are with you.

One Aldwych is ticking all the boxes. It has a perfect location, ideal for many of the main sights, including Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden on the door step. That's assuming you actually want to leave your room. It also has a Byron Burgers just a few doors away on Wellington Street, which is a bonus as its best burgers in town and great kids menu!! It was great to be able to walk out of the hotel and wonder around Covent Garden in the evening with so much for the kids to see. Their eyes were on stalks at the sight of some of the street performers! For those planning to see the Lion King, the Lyceum theatre is literally a few steps across the street.

Breakfast again was a sumptuous feast, including separate kids menu: boiled eggs and soldiers, homemade blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, or a bacon muffin, followed by mini Danish pastries. The children were in breakfast heaven and their every need was looked after. I was also spoilt with the extensive a la carte menu, and vast array of freshly squeezed juices. Luckily, there was plenty of time to walk it all off as we strolled to the London Eye. Brunch at Indigo is on my list for next time at £31.00 with unlimited prosecco.

And when we were worn out from sight-seeing, the 18m pool (decent size for central London) was an added bonus, (especially as it was empty!) enabling me to recharge my batteries and they could have more fun, splashing around for an hour before dinner.

Overall, an outstanding hotel that we will definitely revisit!
