Ruthern Valley is a fantastic site for kids to get back to nature. Run by parents who have two small boys this holiday experience is aimed at families who prefer their kids to run around outdoors, enjoying their freedom and busy making new friends. This is not a holiday for those of you who need the nightly throb of music, flashing lights and cheesy bingo callers. You can however relax, explore and enjoy the 8 acres of mature woodland teaming with local wildlife; wild flowers are everywhere, a bubbling stream runs alongside the site and nature watchers will find themselves engaged by the antics of the squirrels and wild rabbits. Not forgetting the abundance of fantastic days out and places to see in Cornwall.
The Accommodation
If a holiday with a roof over your head is what you're looking for then there is a choice from 8 timber cabins(sleeping a family of 6), 4 Cedar wood bungalows, 4 static holiday caravans, all fully equipped for self-catering. For the more adventurous, there are wigwams or camping huts. The touring caravan and camping area has 26 pitches, 6 of which have electric hook-up; there is designated campers' shower and toilet block - with solar hot water - and with laundry facilities.
At Ruthern Valley the owners firmly believe that having space is a right, not a luxury, so you will find all the accommodation areas, including the camping pitches, are designed to create ‘a little world of your own' amongst friends.
Child Friendly Facilities
Cots, high chairs and baby equipment can be requested ready for your arrival. The best part of the site is the outside spaces, it's open enough for children to play but feels safe enough to be able to let them explore. Children will find it easy meeting new friends. Kids are exposed to the local wildlife and will find it more interesting to learn about it in a relaxed environment. There is a little woodland walk over a brook which leads to the kids play area. Little ones can collect freshly laid eggs and watch the pigs being feed.
Ruthern Valley Shop
There is a handy on-site shop stocking a vast array of essential items and holiday luxuries. Local bacon, sausages and free range eggs from the resident chickens and local farms. No need to think about trudging to the shops as there are daily deliveries for fresh milk, butter and clotted cream. Cornish wines, beer and ciders are chilled to perfection ready for your arrival. There is no need to worry about cooking that first meal after a long journey it can be taken care of from the local "Little Cornish Curry Co" all locally grown meat & veg - freshly made and tasty.
