Set on a clifftop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean
to the west and the countryside of the Porth valley to the east the Sands
really does provide for a genuinely child-friendly family holiday. The hotel considers friendliness to be
top of the agenda – the approachability of the staff will help you relax and
unwind and enjoy the surroundings whilst your children are kept happy using the
fantastic facilities.
In 6 acres of grounds this purpose built hotel
has plenty of space both inside and out for guests to relax and have fun. There are childrens clubs, with costs
starting at £2.22 per hour, complimentary sports facilities including tennis,
croquet, golf and basketball, play areas for all ages as well as a maze to get
stuck in. There are 2 beach
adventure centres only minutes away offering a wide range of water, beach and
rock activities. The 'Surf Shack'
has free wetsuit and board hire for all ages to brave the sea - fantastically
there are also heated indoor and outdoor pools for those who like me hate sand!
Buggy and backpack hire is free – freeing up
very valuable car space. Additional facilities include: baby listening; OFSTED
inspected creche facilities for specific age groups; dining options, including
a buffet style breakfast, snack bar for lunch, children's high tea and the
choice to eat dinner with or without the children; DVD players for when they're
too frazzled; Sony playstations - it goes on .... oh and a spa, a hydro and
sauna and a gym - or the bar - for when they are occupied and you need some time
out!
Rooms are very spacious and comfortable many
with stunning ocean views and most have separate sleeping areas for
children. All are well equipped
.with a kettle, chill box, baby listening monitor and TV. Microwaves are available if required.
The contemporary suites additionally have an iron, DVD player in kids area,
flat screen TV with Sony play station and a King size bed.
Should you wish to go and explore there are lots
of lovely places to visit nearby as well as restaurants such as Jamie Oliver’s
‘’15’ restaurant at Watergate Bay and the Rick Stein alternative at Padstow.
Most nights
children's entertainment is available; adult entertainment is available twice
weekly. Both types are included in the inclusive bed and breakfast rate,
actually very reasonable rate when you consider that up to 2 children may stay
for free.

One word sums the place up - FAB! We went to Sands last September with our 4 year old and 7 month old sons. We all had a great time - the facilities and food were all great and they also had a wonderful wine list. The evening childrens clubs were fantastic, our eldest son loved going so much he cried when it finished. The rooms and setting for this place are great and the beaches surrounding the area are beautiful. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There is so much more that I want to say, but cannot squeeze in the words. To sum up, you can't go wrong with this place, its a great place to go with your children, with the added benefit of getting a couple of hours grown up time to yourselves in the evening.
