Stanley House in the stunning Eskdale valley is the perfect place for a relaxing family holiday. Designed with families in mind, Stanley House offers Bed and Breakfast but better! While breakfast is cooked and served for you you can then make full use of the open plan kitchen, dining area and well-stocked Open Larder for the rest of the day to prepare your own snacks and meals. Perfect for those of you with some little fussy eaters!
There's lots of space from large bedrooms and family suites, to comfortable public lounges and huge gardens. Treat the place as your own and create some fun family memories for the future. Oh, and steam trains pass the front door!
Children of all ages just love the famous Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway or La'al Ratty as it's known locally. There's a wayside halt right outside our door to catch the train to Dalegarth Station at Boot. This Lake District location is unspoilt and still relatively undiscovered but it is glorious walking country, with Cumbria's beautiful coastline and some fabulous visitor attractions just a short drive away, including Muncaster Castle and Wastwater (voted Britain's Favourite View in 2009).
Stanley House is within easy walking distance of some fine Inns in Boot or Eskdale Green, with The Woolpack (a sister property) just a short distance away at the foot of Hardknott Pass.
Stanley House offers a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and a B&B experience with a bit more freedom. You're not confined to you room here as there are two spacious sitting rooms available to guests. The sitting rooms are a great place for parents to relax with a glass of wine in the evenings while their little ones sleep soundly upstairs. Both have comfy sofas and one has a TV, video and a wood burning stove, while the other has TV, DVD player and Playstation. There is also a drying room and downstairs loo.
There are 12 spacious bedrooms, all en-suite and furnished to a high standard, with lovely views. All the rooms are flexible and can be prepared as double or twin beds, and extra beds or travel cots can be provided. If you'd like a bit more space, Stanley House has two family suites available, offering two bedrooms and a large family bathroom connected by a private hallway. One of the bedrooms in the suite can also accommodate an extra bed for larger families. All rooms have HD flat screen televisions with DVD players to entertain younger members of the family in the early waking hours.
Stanley House has lawns and gardens which run down to the banks of the confluence of The River Esk and Whillan Beck. The gardens offer a lovely area for children to play or to enjoy a picnic in the sun.
Extra beds, cots, highchairs, baby baths and even a steriliser can be provided on request.
Private parking is available for at least 12 cars. Dogs are welcome in the first floor rooms.
Stanley House can be hired for (and lends itself brilliantly too) sole private use for large family house parties or celebrations. Sleeping 26 in 12 spacious, en-suite rooms, Stanley House can be booked exclusively for a large house party, or smaller groups can book part of the accommodation on a more flexible bed and breakfast basis.
