About Tapnell Farm Cottages
Tapnell Farm is nestled on the west coast of the Isle of Wight near Yarmouth and provides a wonderful holiday location for families to discover the delights of the island and grab the opportunity to unwind. Stay on a family friendly farm with three beautifully presented large holiday cottages to choose from, with spectacular views across the fields and out to sea. The largest is the farmhouse, Tapnell Manor sleeping 22 guests under one roof. For the more adventurous, Tapnell Farm is also home to glamping at Tom's Eco Lodge. Tapnell Farm can happily accommodate large family get-togethers whose needs and wants may vary between accommodations. Close to Freshwater Bay and other fantastic beaches, it sure is a magical place to stay.
During your stay you are welcome to wander freely around the farm and meet some of the resident animals. The farm began life as a dairy farm and has diversified to agricultural and young stock. There are still plenty of sheep and calves on site with lots of feeding tasks the little ones can help with. Children will enjoy petting and feeding the animals. An old painted caravan is where the rescued battery hens are safely housed and will hopefully provide complimentary fresh eggs for your breakfast. The kids can run around the site quite safely and will find secret paths, hammocks and swings to play on.
The Holiday Cottages
Tapnell Manor is the largest of the holiday cottages, big enough to sleep the largest of families but equally cosy and welcoming. It has been lovingly updated bringing the interior into the 21st century while maintaining the rustic appeal of an old farmhouse. Inside the house there are plenty of rooms for families to relax in and not feel on top of each other. There’s a fantastic games room fitted with table tennis and a darts board. Doubling this, there is a lovely children’s games room, ensuring even the little ones have a great time too. The farmhouse includes 10 bedrooms of which 7 are doubles (including 1 family room), 1 is twin, 1 is triple and there is also a nursery with bunk beds and cot. Other features include a welcoming kitchen with an Aga (as well as a conventional oven) and a relaxed eating area, a conservatory with breathtaking views and a beautiful beamed dining room. The large dining room can seat up to 20 people comfortably, meaning guests with even the largest of families or circle of friends can enjoy their meals together. There is a spacious, well-tended garden to enjoy a barbeque in if the weather is kind.
Dairyman’s Cottage has been renovated and finished to a very high standard - think New England chic meets country retreat with sea-grass carpets throughout, beautiful bespoke fabrics and curtains, shabby chic furniture, luxury bedrooms with en suite's and a high spec open plan living area and kitchen. It has four bedrooms and can accommodate a family of 8 in 2 king-sized bedrooms and 2 doubles (can be changed to twins on request). The special feature of this holiday cottage is that it is mobility friendly. The cottage has a spacious double patio bedroom on the ground floor with en suite wet room. The living space is also on the ground floor so there are no steps to climb.
Stockbridge Cottage has four doubles, one of which has an en-suite, and one family bathroom. There is a sofa beds in the living room, which can take the house capacity from 8 to 10 if needed. All of the rooms offer wonderful views, and the house has been designed with plenty of windows to en-capture the superb surroundings, and offer plenty of light. Comfortably furnished, the cosy living room has French doors out to the garden, and the spacious fully refurbished kitchen/dining room is a perfect place to gather for family meals. The cottage is on the outskirts of the farm, just set back from the road, and has plenty of outdoor space with a large garden, patio area with BBQ and children's play area.
Tapnell Farm is constantly evolving, and it’s now got everything from a restaurant, to a farm shop and a play area with a gigantic bouncing pillows for the kids. Enjoy tucking in to a plate of something wholesome and lip smaking in The Cow Co restaurant.
