About The Cottage, Cornwall

This detached, country chic, luxury, self-catering cottage is near the Cornish coast, just a few minutes from Crackington Haven, Boscastle and Bude. Previously owned by the same family for five generations, this beautiful countryside cottage has been lovingly renovated to provide luxury home-from-home comfort for families wanting a slice of relaxation at its best. Your family’s canine best friend(s) can come too.

Set in an idyllic location in the quintessential, sleepy Cornish hamlet of Trelash, this detached 18th century cottage with its whitewashed palate, offset by a Delabole rag slate roof and flagstone floor is typical of a tradition Cornish cottage.   Decorated with up-cycled furnishings, reclaimed farmyard finds, vintage trunks, antique marine searchlights, family heirlooms and bespoke staircase gives this luxury self-catering home a truly homespun warmth.  This luxury self-catering cottage is well equipped throughout with washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, electric range cooker and American style fridge freezer, even a Nutri-Ninja blender for home-made baby gourmet meals! The rear lawn is enclosed.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms (for 6, plus one or two infants)

A boutique style master suite features a hand decorated king-size bed adorned with vintage-style French linen and romantic bed canopy, dressing room / nursery and large en suite with Victorian double ended claw-foot bath, large walk-in shower, WC and his and hers wash basins.  The guest double bedroom has a double bed with deep mattress and a romantic bed canopy with sheer drapes and a vintage chest.  The nautically themed twin room is also beautifully decorated with two 3ft twin beds. There is a monochrome shower room with WC on the first floor, and another wet room on the ground floor with WC and large monsoon rain shower.  Two cots are provided for infants under 3-years.

Enjoy hearty family meals and lazy morning breakfasts in this spacious, heart of the home, kitchen.  With vintage shabby-chic table and dresser, farmhouse-style, hand built kitchen units and antique marine searchlights, this fully equipped kitchen/diner has everything, from spatula to a water and ice-dispensing American Fridge Freezer. No need to pack oodles of clothes as a dedicated laundry room will make light of a quick refresh. With free unlimited Wi-Fi throughout the cottage and a cosy snug to sit quietly catching up on work, there is no risk of missing out on anything. End the day enjoying an evening together in a large, yet cosy, double aspect sitting room with a smart TV at one end and wood burner at the other. Everything has been thought of to make your stay a truly home-from-home experience, with a few luxuries thrown in for good measure.

The Cottage, which is south facing, is bathed in light, brightening rooms and benefitting a bright spacious feeling throughout the cottage.  Situated on its own village green, The Cottage benefits from lawns on three sides plus private off-road parking. A dedicated BBQ area and outside taps, sink and hosepipes make cleaning wellies (and dogs) a breeze.

Out and About

Equidistant between Bude and Launceston, The Cottage is ideally placed to enjoy a morning  sea swim and watch the local surfers catch the waves before work, then head inland to one of the local market towns, browsing the antique shops and local food producers, or explore some of the many local attractions to entertain the kids (mum and dad too!).  If outdoor activities is more your scene, pack a picnic and head for one the local coast paths or inland to the moors for breath taking views or cycle one of the man cycle paths or mountain bike facilities.  The flat terrain of the Camel Trail leading from Wadebridge to Padstow is a particular favourite with families of all ages who stay at The Cottage.  Trelash is also on the North Cornwall Trail.

Other close by attractions include The Tamar Otter Park, Trethorne Leisure Park, The Hidden Valley Discovery Park, Vintage steam railways, mystical castles at Tintagel and Launceston plus many more…..  A comprehensive list of things to do, places to see and walks to enjoy are provided in an online cottage housebook and a printed copy at the cottage.

Winter Months and Out of Season Breaks

If you are looking to escape to the country in cooler months or Christmas and New Year The Cottage is just the perfect venue to embrace the relaxed Cornish lifestyle. Start your days with lazy mornings, hearty home cooked breakfasts and long days exploring the rugged North Cornwall coast or brisk moorland jaunts, then back to The Cottage where you can pick a well-thumbed book from the vintage glass dresser and hunker down by the inglenook fire with a steaming cup of chocolate whilst the kids fall into a deep slumber dreaming of what tomorrow will bring.  End the day with a well-earned soak, sinking into a creamy layer of steaming bubbles in the Victorian claw foot bath tub, with a glass of champagne in hand, the perfect place to soothe tired limbs after long countryside stomps.
