A weekend wasn't long enough to sample all the gorgeous facilities and it's fabulous seafront location was a big plus.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to mealtimes as there are two child-friendly restaurants: the Cavery and the Atrium that have kids menus and also children's tea is available at the café patio between 5.30-6.30pm. The Atrium is an award winning a la carte choice if you want to book a romantic meal after 7pm (make sure you book in advance) while the kids could be looked after in the crèche . However the children might choose to partake in the fabulous family entertainment 6-7pm where they will be thrilled with the tricks of the magician and dance the night away with party games also included. This was quality entertainment at its best and even encouraged the shyest of children to join in (watch out also- the most reserved mums and dads turn into wild exhibitionists!!).

The Ofsted approved crèche can be used throughout your stay for a minimal charge of £3 per per 3 hour session. The sessions are available from 9am-12noon, 1pm-4pm, 6pm-9pm (closed Tuesdays). My girls came out fully loaded with lots of paintings and had immense fun dressing up. Top tip - let the pictures dry before picking them up! Parents must be on the hotel premises whilst children are in the crèche which gives you the ideal time to pamper yourself in the award winning Spa or work out a sweat in the gym which has a fabulous range of modern facilities including a state of the art air conditioned Techno-Gym, and full aerobics timetable 7 days a week with classes including Pilates, Body Conditioning and Aqua Aerobics. Not forgetting the 20 metre pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Aromatic Steam Room and toddler pool.A large residents lounge situated by the side of the pool gives little ones space to run around while you relax and take in the sumptuous surroundings and decor with a play area that has toys available for under fives.

Teenagers can chill out in the Teenagers Room, located on the ground floor of the hotel. Computers with internet access and PS3 games available from Reception at no extra charge (£10 refundable deposit).

Baby-changing facilities, cots & highchairs provided free of charge and baby-sitting services can be arranged with prior notice.

We stayed in a inter-connecting room towards the back of the hotel in which there was plenty of room to play and sleep and was well equipped with plenty of storage. The only downside was a few awkward small flights of steps which was a bit difficult to navigate kids, bags and buggies however the staff are always at hand to help.

The Dalmeny is the complete package for families as it covers all options enabling you to have a relaxing pampered stay or use it as a base for a more energetic activities to explore the wonderful family attractions of the North West including Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Pleasure Beach ,Blackpool Zoo. Stay more locally and stroll down the promenade and you might be as lucky as we were to get serenaded at the bandstand by the local brass band or you could try your hand rowing on the local boating lake.
