Built in 1890 as a holiday home for an Admiral & his family it is grand. Kirstie's background in interior design means that all the impressive original features are there to enjoy yet the house has been sympathetically brought up to date for you to enjoy - it is bright, stylish, contemporary & comfortable. With 7 bedrooms (sleeping up to 13), stunning views, gardens to suit all ages, cosy log fires, a humungous sitting/dining room, detached vine room and beautifully designed rooms to relax in you'll want to stay.
Accommodation
As mentioned there is lots of space - hence even if full the house provides space to retreat to. The stunning 34 ft long Sitting room / formal dining room & library has windows and French doors out onto the sea view terrace - you get to enjoy the views whatever the weather. The outdoor terrace ensures that you can enjoy the sun at every opportunity. The 42" widescreen plasma TV has the full sky package a DVD library is available if the 100s of channels have nothing to offer! 3 large sofas make for an ideal relaxed discussion area or super cinema viewing area for the kids. The dining room / library end is where we'd all congregate putting the world to rights: the library shelves hold various books & games.
The kitchen and second dining room is a similar size to the sitting room - you may already expect that all you might need - to a very high standard - is available. Miele extra size oven & grill, Miele gas hob with extractor, Gas 2 oven AGA (always on), dishwasher, American fridge freezer (dispenses filtered water & ice), toaster, kettle. French doors lead to the kitchen terrace, walk in larder with microwave and wine racks provide zapping power for baby food and sustenance for parents!
The laundry room ensures that you never run out of clothes.
The first floor offers more beautiful views with 2 king size rooms (one en-suite for which you will need to pull straws), a twin room and a single room along the main bathroom with the original Victorian claw foot bath, a separate shower with 14 inch rose, a loo and a sink.
The Second Floor offers more gorgeous views with 2 double rooms and a king-size with en-suite and single futon suitable for a child. There is also a lovely bathroom. To save you traipsing downstairs in the middle of the night the 'Art' room, a former artists studio room, has a small kitchen with long sink, fridge, kettle, table & 2 chairs and has access to the back garden.
The garden provides space for adventure and solitude - the ‘Secret' garden ½ way up the drive is secluded & level and surrounded by shrubs & flowers and the detached vine room, a large Victorian conservatory with grape vines & a nectarine tree for which you are invited to help yourself, are great places to relax. The back garden has a large sloping / terraced area 'natural' garden with mature trees, direct access onto the South West Coastal path & down to the secret beaches at the back of the house. There are steep drops so make sure the kids are aware.
The front terrace, accessed from the sitting / dining room has amazing views over the town & sea, table & chairs to seat 6, and it's a perfect space for little ones with a side garden with decking, a small grassy area & a kids playhouse.

Kirstie has supplied a fabulous ideas list to chose from so plan your day on the terrace with a chilled glass of wine - a taster though - the nearest beach is just a 5 min walk away, Damien Hirst's restaurant a 15 min walk and the 3 fabulous miles that is Woolacombe Bay just a 10 min drive away.
Full catering is available on request. The Quarry is available for week, weekend or midweek lets throughout the year.
