We are delighted to offer 50 family and child friendly campsites - specifically selected for us by the Camping and Caravanning Club. This campsite at Thetford Forest is open from 1st January - 31st December 2011.
Thetford Forest has been selected for its family facilities as well as its great location - on the edge of the forest with fantastic buggy friendly walks and family bike rides; perfect to explore the local wildlife.
We were met by warm friendly staff who were delighted in showing us around the Theford site to get our bearings. It is a beautifully managed site and obviously great care is taken in its presentation, layout and the shower blocks were spotless.
The Camping and Caravanning Club recognises how important it is for campers especially with children to find clean amenity blocks with a high standard of fixtures and fittings - this particular one has a parent and baby room AND a family shower room. All sites highlighted have additional on-site laundry facilities, just in case your brood happen to have fun frolicking in the mud! Your pitch will be available after noon on your arrival day and you will need to vacate it before noon on your last days stay.
Camping Pods at Thetford Forest
Thetford Forest has four camping pods, two of which are jumbo-sized, sleeping a family of up to five. These are a popular addition to the site as they offer a tent free alternative for a camping holiday. You can experience the thrill of camping, without having the exertion of erecting your tent at the end of a long journey. Just throw in your sleeping bags and you're at home! Heating, electric lighting and electric socket are included. The camping pods each have their own block built BBQ area & picnic bench provided for alfresco dining. All the pods were located around the fenced pond area with its resident moor hens in the rushes.
The children's outdoor playground with an area for ball games should help keep little ones entertained whilst parents need a breather or while tea is being prepared. The on-site shop stocks basic groceries and you can order your daily newspaper from the office.
Things to do with Kids and Family Days Out in Norfolk
High Lodge in Brandon hosts open air concerts in the summer and has family friendly cycle routes and sculpture trails. The adventurous play area is set among the trees with challenges for children of most abilities and ages. Six giant wooden play sculptures are linked by an easy access trail suitable for buggies as well as wheelchairs and easy walking.
Also here is Go Ape! - a high-wire adventure course of rope bridges, tarzan swings and zip slides.
Puddledock Farm has a large pond, which is available to campers who love to fish.
Banham Zoo is home to some of the world's most exotic, rare and endangered animals. See tigers, cheetahs, meerkats and wolves here. Bewilderwood is a curious treehouse adventure with peaceful paths, zip wires, jungle bridges and organic food. The Great Eastern Pingo Trail is an eight-mile walk linking pingos - circular ponds created by glaciation during the last Ice Age.
Norwich is England's best preserved medieval city. It has two cathedrals, a Norman castle, and an Art Deco City Hall. The amazing 21st century Forum houses the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library.
