Located in a gorgeous area of West Wales, Treberfedd Farm is a working organic farm with four charming holiday cottages. The farm lies amongst rolling hills in the heart of Ceredigion, near the famous heritage coast. It is a super place for holidays, especially for families with young children who love the great outdoors. The holiday cottages are set in a safe and friendly environment on the farm, and there are some great waymarked farm trails that enable you to explore the 64 acres of the farm complete with its rare breed stock of cattle. Just remember to pack your wellies! Whether you have babies and toddlers or big kids and teens, Treberfedd Farm is sure to offer something to keep the whole family happy on their stay.
The holiday cottages
The holiday cottages are peacefully located away from the workings of the organic farm, and are positioned around a large open courtyard with a water feature. Four unique cottages are available to choose from, sleeping 5, 6, 7 and 9 people. Each charming cottage is well equipped with families in mind and as child friendly as possible. There's no need to overload the car with travel cots and high chairs, as they are provided as standard, with stair gates available on request. All accommodation has been furnished to a high standard and is kitted out with all modern conveniences including flat screen TV's with freeview and DVD players - just in case you need to keep the children entertained on rainy days. Handily, there is also a stash of toys and games located in the toy shed for children to borrow.
The restored thatched cottage is the original historic farm cottage and is a rare example of a thatched Welsh farmhouse. Overlooking the meadowlands of Treberfedd's working farm, the Grade II listed Thatched Cottage provides enough space to comfortably fit six people while maintaining the feel of a cosy cottage. The Granary(sleeps 5) and The Old Cart House(sleeps 9) were created from the farm's traditional Welsh barns. The Farmhouse sleeps 7 is a spacious modern house ideal for families with stunning views over the sweeping meadows and hills of the Welsh countryside.
Things to do on the Farm
Treberfedd Farm boasts 67 acres of organic meadow and woodland that families can explore via the waymarked paths. The farm animals include rare breed Llanwenog sheep, black Welsh mountain sheep and traditional Hereford cows, as well as the many chickens and pigs!
Families of all ages can find something to do on the farm. Little ones will enjoy playing on the swings, play tower, slide and sandpit in the new playground. Whilst older children have the use of an outdoor covered games barn, housing a pool table and table tennis.
The kids will rate a guided tour of the farm by Farmer Jack as a highlight of their stay. Children can help Farmer Jack to feed the chickens, sheep and cows, collect the eggs and learn more about the farm's wildlife.
There is also the opportunity to buy the organic meet, vegetables and eggs to sample whilst on holiday or to take home.
Location and things to do in West Wales
Treberfedd Farm is the perfect location for exploring beautiful Ceredigion.The farm lies only 8 miles from the stunning Cardigan Bay coast, and there are some fantastic beaches along this coastline to explore such as Newquay and Aberaeron - a pretty seaside harbour town. There are also many tourist attractions in the area for fun days out along with plenty of activities available for families including play areas, boat trips, canoeing and sailing, mountain biking trails. It is also only a fifteen minute drive from the historic university town of Lampeter. There are also lots of great cafes, pubs and restaurants for eating out.
Treberfedd farm offers a great value farm holiday with prices including bed linen and towels, all electricity and heating, use of washing machine and tumble drier and Wifi connection at no extra charge. Well behaved dogs are welcome too!
Cottages are available throughout the year for weekend, short breaks and longer holidays except for the summer school holidays.
