Beautiful Days - 20th - 22nd August

Where: Escot Park, Ottery St Mary, Devon

Small festival organised by the Levellers - diverse music, very relaxed atmosphere, fab food courtesy of River Cottage, real ale, 5 stages, loads of activities for the kids and fabulous music to ensure you all enjoy yourselves. James, New Model Army, 3 Daft Monkeys, Stornaway and the Levellers form part of the fab line up.

Cost: Adult weekend ticket £100, 10-16 £60, 5-10 £30, under 5s £5


Camp Bestival - 30th July - 1st August

Where: Lulworth Castle, Dorset

Beautiful spot for the little sis of the Isle of Wight festival. The Gruffalo Show, boutique baby-sitting, fireworks, theatre in the woods, dingly dell, pamper lounge and bands including The Human League, Madness, Ellie Goulding, The Fall (should I tell Bob?), Mr Scruff (we love him!), comedians to keep you giggling, poets, djs - there's heaps going on - importantly Mr Tumble is there too -winners all round! The web-site incidentally is FANTASTIC.

Cost: Adult weekend tickets £155 - kids under 10 free

Latitude - 15th - 18th July

Where: Henham Park, Suffolk

Again tons of stuff to see and do and experience - fantastic music line up including Florence, Rodrigo & Gabriela, Belle & Sebastian, Richard Hawley & Nigel Kennedy - live theatre, djs, debates, literature, comedy - it will be good. It's civilised, green, very cultural and very family oriented with puppet shows, arts and crafts, stories and drama workshops to keep the kids happy. Tangerine fields tents still available - so you don't have to take your own - limited ticket availability so be quick.

Cost: Adults from £65 - kids under 12 free

WOMAD, of course - 23 - 25 July

Where: Malmesbury, Wiltshire

Huge relaxed cultural melting pot of music, food, people, arts, crafts with loads of new artists, as well as old favourites. WOMAD celebrates Music, Art and Drama and you'll be exposed to so much of it. The line up is vast with names you may never have heard but whose sounds you will love. All manner of camping options are available. Lots of interesting workshops for the kids - this is a global institution - you'll be happy to be a part of it.

Cost: Adults from £125 - kids under 13 free

Solfest - 27th - 29th August

Where: Siloth, West Cumbria

Solfest is based on the community generated by the happenstance of it's festival goers sharing that weekend - it's like a huge commune. Completely family friendly, completely packed with kids activities including crafts, arts, dressing up, music, loos where required - there is just SO much you need to go on the site and read about it! Line up includes James, The Magic Numbers, Astrid Williamson and lesser known bands being given a chance.

Cost: Adult weekend tickets £89 - Kids weekend camping £25 - £62 under 5s free

End of the Road - 10th - 12th September

Where: Larmer Tree Gardens, North Dorset

A very relaxed, ‘intimate' (smaller) festival with it's own Victorian Piano Stage, 6 workshop venues offering all kinds of stuff for all ages to do and a line up that goes on filled with names you'll want to remember. I want to see Adam Green! The quality of everything is so lovely - the place is so lovely - you'll get to drink well, eat well and play merrily - under twinkly merry lights - enjoy.

Cost: Adult Weekend Ticket £130, Youth 13-17 £120, Kids all now £50 as free tickets for under 5s sold out!

The Big Chill - 5th - 8th August

Where: Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Herefordshire

Massive Attack, Gregory Isaacs, Lily Allen, Thom Yorke - that's the music taken care of - what a weekend. Kids Tent provides story telling, workshops ongoing, swings an trmapoline as well as Boutique Babysitters!

Cost: Adult weekend ticket £155, Teens £60, Under 12s £4

Beat-Herder - 2-4 July

Where: Ribble Valley, Lancashire

Festivals like they used to be! I mean that in a good way. Is the festival child-friendly - "yep" says the site! Loads of bands battling it out in places such as The Beat-Herder & District Working Men's Social Club. Big sense of humour, big atmosphere!

Cost: Sold Out - next year!
