Child Friendly Bed and Breakfast
The West Wing of this beautiful beamed old building houses the bed and breakfast accommodation. The two guest rooms (one double, one twin/triple), spacious bathroom and private breakfast and sitting room with log stove are totally self-contained with their own private entrance and staircase. Whether you book one or both bedrooms, the accommodation is reserved exclusively for you, so you can rest assured that you don’t have to tip toe round other guests and constantly monitor the noise levels of the children. The bedrooms are furnished with luxury mattresses, hypoallergenic pillows and duvets, Egyptian cotton bed linen and for young children the beds are equipped with waterproof mattress protectors, waterproof pillow protectors, and blackout curtains.
A full English and Continental breakfast is included. Yalda’s breakfasts revolve around Suffolk produce. Sausages and bacon from local farms, eggs from her free range chickens, juices from Stoke Farm Orchard at Battisford and raspberries and strawberries from the village of Lindsey. You can also purchase her delicious homemade cakes, biscuits, ice cream and other produce to take home. While there is no dinner option, there are plenty of excellent dining pubs in the vicinity. The owner also keeps a stock of frozen (microwaveable) ready meals from a nearby vegetarian dining pub. There are facilities within your accommodation to prepare simple meals such as a fridge, microwave, toaster, crockery and cutlery which makes all the difference for parents to be able to rustle up a quick snack for little ones who have munchies.
Equipment for Children
Indoor facilities for children include a high chair, child fire guard, stair gate, child toilet seat, plastic cutlery and crockery, plastic table mats and tablecloth, games, puzzles, books, pencils and crayons and even an indoor hammock/swing. Please do ask if you need to use the washing machine.
The Grounds and Animals
For warmer months of the year you will have a private area of the garden with hammocks, table and chairs and temporary fencing is available for those wanting to keep babies and toddlers away from the pond. There's also a swing and a den which children will love, a rowing boat for exploring the pond and moat in the grounds with life jackets available for children and a paddling pool can be borrowed to cool off on warmer days - it is a wonderful place for children to have fun and explore. Yalda is a happy to introduce the various animals who share the grounds with you – and to provide carrots to feed the goats and grain to feed the chickens and ducks. The kids can also join her in collecting the chickens’ eggs that you will have for your breakfast.
Crossways Farm is lucky enough to host a large quantity of visiting wildlife and with a bit of luck, you will hopefully see some of these animals during your stay,
