Dam View

Child friendly glamping, Stirling

About Dam View

Luxurious glamping lodges in the beautiful Gartmorn Dam nature reserve, in Stirling, Scotland.  Dam View's beautiful glamping safari lodge tents are set in 100 acres of farmland, yet just an hour from Edinburgh. A rural retreat at its finest…

Set in the beautiful Gartmorn Dam nature reserve on a working farm, these luxurious safari tent lodges are simply gorgeous. Sleeping up to 6 the 2 lodges have been exquisitely furnished in a mix of opulent soft furnishings and vintage pieces such as copper sinks, iron bedsteads and wooden dressers.

The lodges are situated in the glamping field with footpaths and cycle trails from your doorstep to explore the farm and nature reserve - most are accessible with a pram too. This is the perfect place for peace and tranquility, sprinkled with home comforts and little treats. And should you want to explore further afield you’re only an hour from both Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Lodges

There are 3 sleeping areas in each lodge, one with a double, a twin, and a private little wooden cubby hole with double bed - you can fight the kids for it! All beds will be made up for you on arrival with crisp fresh linen. Towels and locally sourced hand soaps, body wash and shampoo will also be in your lodge. Which means...yes! you can wash in the comfort of your lodge… and in some style. Climb into your own roll top bath (with shower attachment) and for added dreaminess open up the back of the tent and gaze out over the reserve whilst wallowing in your bubbles! Your own flushing toilet and hand basin are situated right outside your tent too.

The well-equipped kitchen has a wood burning stove which both heats the tent and provides a hob and oven to cook up some tasty family favourites. Camping stoves, BBQs and fire pits are also included to help you make the most of the outdoors. There is no power in the lodges but there are solar powered lanterns and a solar powered phone charger in each of them.

Kids and Parents

Indoor and outdoor toys are provided in the lodges, and essentials including a travel cot, high chair and toddler dining booster are available on request.

Whilst it is tempting to stay in your lodge, or on the outdoor seating area, the local nature reserve and farm is well worth exploring. The owner’s children look after the farm chicks and will be happy to show you and your little ones around. You might even get the chance to feed a lamb in the right season. Wellies are a must - you might be forgiven for thinking you’re in a boutique hotel but it is glamping after all!

There are a number of great locations positioned around the Dam to help you spot a bird or two, and if you want to cover more ground then bring your bikes and cycle around this beautiful area. In the wider area you’ll find great options for all the family including indoor adventure parks, zoos, lakes and castles.

For a fun day out that the kids will love head to the Cairnie Maze where you can also try go-karting, mess about in the play area and pick your own fruit.

Visit The Kelpies - incredible steel equine sculptures.

Animal lovers and adventurers will have a great time at Blair Drummond Safari Park - animals, boat rides, play areas and dodgems all in one place!

Step into the magical world of Falkland - a picturesque town with cobbled streets, little streets and the famous royal palace.

Edinburgh Zoo isn’t too far away and you could combine it with a visit to Dynamic Earth, or one of the many museums and galleries around Edinburgh.

Food and Drink

Breakfast packs and BBQ packs can be requested before your stay. The meat is all locally sourced - you can even purchase meat straight from the farm for zero food miles.  Fresh eggs from the farm can also be delivered by the owners children. Further afield there is a plethora of eating options from farm shops and cafes to pubs and fine dining. The owners are more than happy to recommend somewhere to suit your tastes.

About the owners: Sarah & Robin

“The farm has been run by our family for nearly 50 years. Along with our 3 daughters (who look after our chicks!) we would like to welcome you to our farm and we wish you a wonderful stay.”
