Glamping at Hale Farm

Child friendly glamping, East Sussex

About Glamping at Hale Farm

Luxury family glamping, with free of charge entry to farm, 25% discount to local adventure park Knock Hatch, Piano Bar & Complimentary welcome drinks. Glamping at Hale Farm in Uckfield, East Sussex is a truly beautiful place to get back to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  There are beautifully equipped tents awaiting your arrival and once you've landed you might sink into one of the comfy beanbags in the large communal ‘Chill-out Tent’ or join other families around the big fire-pit and gaze at the stars - either way you are guaranteed a relaxed family time for grown ups and kids alike.

Hale Farm comprises of 10 well-spaced bell tents each with a double bed and up to three children’s beds, complete with luxurious bedding and memory foam mattresses, cushions and throws for cosy and comfortable family glamping. The carpeted bell tents come complete with fairy lights and bunting, and each has its own fire pit and tripod grill for cooking. The practical things you need for cooking and dining are provided in your own holiday box, although you can go to the Communal outdoor kitchen area where there are gas hob cooking facilities and seating and join other Glampers to make and eat your meals. There is a communal fridge freezer and a facility to charge your phones, should you wish to do so.

A complimentary glass of the signature tipple, prosecco dusted with rose gold is available (adults only!) on arrival - seems like the pefect start to a fun family break.

Communal bathroom facilities with hot showers are available to Glampers and electricity is available (via a generator) between 9am and 6pm daily.

To add a bit of indulgence to your stay, a luxury kit filled with sweet treats can be pre-ordered.

Things to Do

Midweek during the school summer holidays, there is a kids activity programme called Mini Glampers, which is a selection of outdoor activities with a prize and certificate. There are also drawing competitions, badminton, volley ball, board games and fancy dress, along with a scavenger hunt for the children. The farm animals (chickens, goats, turkeys, pigs, sheep, donkeys, ponies, geese and ducks) love to be petted and fed by the children and bags of food can be bought for just 20p.

Best Bits

  • The beautiful view of the vast starlit sky – we were lucky enough to have lovely clear sunny weather so the evenings were amazing sitting by the firepit watching the stars come out, it really was peaceful and serene.
  • Special little touches – fairy lights and flowers wrapped round the bell tent pole, colouring crayons and welcome pack waiting for the children, glass of prosecco on arrival, fresh flowers in little vases on the tables around the communal tents, dream catchers, hanging ivy vines …I could go on! These little things put the glam into glamping.
  • Visiting the farm, which is open from 9-10.30am every morning where the children can feed the chickens and see ponies, donkeys, pigs, geese, sheep and more chickens!
  • We loved the community family atmosphere, maybe we were just lucky to be there at the same time as some other lovely families but it was so great for the kids to be able to make friends, be outdoors and play together.  This is what really made this holiday for my children.
  • The Gun pub is a short (ish!) walk through corn fields and is well worth a visit for a proper good meal in a beautiful historic location. Check with them for their daily offers, they also have a children’s play area outside.
  • Children’s activities – mini glampers club kept the children busy with a scavenger hunt and bingo game which they all loved!  There were other activities to do at your own leisure including making a nature journey stick.

Top Tips

  • If the weather is warm and sunny, as it was during our stay, bring some shade! The more experienced campers came with gazebos, parasols etc. it gets hot and there isn’t much shade in the bell tent village.
  • Bring some outdoor games for the kids, we had stick ball, boules, frisbee, cricket and all were well used and enjoyed! It’s the perfect way for the little ones to make friends too.
  • Bread and eggs are provided in the communal kitchen tent in the morning, along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate and marshmallows – that’s breakfast sorted!  There is a fridge/freezer so you can store food you have brought with you.  Bacon, sausages and eggs are available from the farm in the morning and the farmer came round the bell tent village in the evening too, so you could purchase these items and logs for the firepit.
  • The walk to The Gun pub is not particularly buggy friendly (unless you have a super small buggy that can trek through corn fields!), we decided to walk anyway but with my littlest one toddling along it took us quite a bit longer than the stated 10-15 minutes! So if you have a table booked, and you want to enjoy the walk, leave early!

What The Kids Said....

  • My 6 year old daughter walked into the bell tent when we arrived and exclaimed “Wow! Its beautiful!”.
  • On our last night she stayed up late to see it get dark and toast marshmallows (provided in the communal kitchen tent) on the firepit, and she said “This has been the best holiday of my life!”.
  • My littlest girl can’t quote how she felt but she was full of smiles and giggles the entire stay, so much so that the other families all commented how happy smiley and content she was!  It was a winner for them both.
