About Coombe Mill Lodges

An absolutely magical place to take youngsters on holiday.

Escape to a beautiful idyllic family holiday spot on a Cornish private estate in North Cornwall. Coombe Mill is a hamlet of picturesque holiday cottages and lodges that are extremely child and parent friendly. The Scandinavian Lodges are contemporary and spacious holiday accommodation sleeping 4 - 8 with magnificent views across the valley. The main attraction is the fantastic interaction and hands on experience both children and adults alike can choose to partake in. The daily tractor round becomes the best start to the day especially if Farmer Nick picks you to help steer it! There are indoor and outdoor play areas, a gym, BBQ's outside and an indoor BBQ hut that fits approximately 15 people. Finish each day with a ride on the Coombe Mill Railway, a great way for children to meet up with their holiday friends after a day exploring Cornwall. With wildlife trails around the grounds and a weekly activity hour with crafts and games for children of all ages there is plenty here for all to enjoy from tiny tots to Grandparents. Look out for purpose built playrooms in many of the properties and super king size beds in some of our master bedrooms.

The Away with the Kids review

Coombe Mill Lodges

If you are looking for a family holiday with a hands on approach to animals, then you can't go wrong with a self catering farm stay at Coombe Mill. Not only is there daily animal feeding on a unique tractor ride with Farmer Nick or Amber but you can go round the farm and see the animals at any time of day. Whilst a fantastic miniature train will keep Thomas the Tank Engine Fans happy. Set in 30 acre wooded valley between Bodmin Moor & the beach there is so much for families to see and do.

Holiday Accommodation

The Scandinavian Lodges stand proudly overlooking the farm with views towards the river. Designed for today's modern family Eden, Heligan, and Pencarrow are new contemporary and spacious properties. With luxury leather sofas and cosy wood burners for chilly evenings, the fixtures and fittings are of the highest specification including a modern fashionable kitchen with the latest home from home appliances. They sleep 7 or 8 in 3 - 5 bedrooms. All have en-suite master bedrooms and a separate family bathroom. The high ceilings, airy light feel, vast open plan living and beautiful setting make them some of Coombe Mill's most popular properties. Heligan also has its own designer playroom and toddler bedroom attached to the master bedroom. Pencarrow is due to benefit from this too in 2018. The Scandinavian lodges have ramped access, parking directly behind the property and downstairs bedrooms and bathroom, so are suitable for a partially disabled family member. A large enclosed decked veranda has tables and chairs to admire the view.

Polzeath, Trebah and Trevarno are smaller 2 bedroom lodges designed with smaller and younger families in mind. The two bedroom properties are refreshingly contemporary packed with mod cons. A truly modern, light and airy feel throughout with high ceilings and open plan kitchen-diner-living room. The feature wood burner, super king master bedroom and large upstairs play room give these holiday lodges their "wow" factor. All have beautiful views over the river and valley and are surrounded only by lawns and woods ensuring tranquil peace and quiet. Each lodge has its own sunny veranda complete with garden furniture and private garden to relax and take full advantage of the glorious backdrop.

Plenty for Children to Enjoy

Join the tractor and trailer ride for the special morning feed run. This is a chance for the children to experience the magic and freedom of the farm. See them grow in confidence as they help feed the animals under the watchful eye of The Farmer. The farm animals include deer, pigs, pygmy goats, sheep, ponies, ducks, chickens and rabbits. Children can simply play amidst the beautiful grounds or in the purpose built play areas. Children's play areas include: a play area with swings, slide, play fort, zip wire and giant covered sand pit with mini diggers, a play area with double layer play boat and trampoline, a badminton net with racquets, shuttlecocks and vollyballs available, an under 5's separate fenced play area with Little Tykes cars, tractors, Toddlebikes, and more, an indoor soft play area for under 5's, a games room with free pool table, ping pong table, and borrow area with toys, dress up clothes, board games, Books DVDs and more. Forget your wellies? Don't fret, in our boot room we have a large selection for tiny tots to adult, you'll also discover fishing nets, wetsuits, body boards, buckets and spades and much more to use on the farm or to borrow for a day at the beach. At the end of the day come for a ride on the Coombe Mill Train, enjoy a lap or two of the gardens the gentle way, take turns to operate the signals and wave the train off from the station. Try your hand at fishing in the course fishing lakes or in the river Camel that runs through the estate. Make friends during activity hour, crafts and games based on nature and the farm for children each week in the high season.
