The Away with the Kids review

There are three units, all within walking distance of beach and nature reserve as well as some fabulous places to eat out. The lovely owners have four children of their own so are really welcoming to tiny guests!

Airstream Caravan

Vintage glamping at it’s best, this 1958 American Trailer sleeps two adults and up to four children under 12 and comes with it’s own private wood fired hot tub.  It is sited in the walled garden of the farm courtyard which has a big lawn and plenty of parking nearby and it comes with on board kitchen, toilet and comfy memory foam beds. All towels and bedding supplied. A separate glamping barn offers a luxury shower room, whilst another barn, The Nest, is available to hang out in with toys etc. should the weather be chilly!

In the caravan there is a seating and dining area which converts into a 7ft double bed for the adults at night. There is also a bedroom with four small bunk beds comfortably sleeping children up to 1.4m tall. The caravan measures 31ft in length and 7ft in width. The custom built wood galley kitchen has a sink, small fridge, combination oven/microwave, a gas four ring hob and storage cupboards. On board there is also a tiny cassette toilet/shower room, as well as storage in the form of six roomy drawers. Larger washroom, kitchen and laundry facilities can be found in the Granary barn.

The Airstream comes complete with its own wood-fired outdoor hut tub - oh such joys!!

2. Luxury Barn Conversion with Hot Tub

Number One at Swallows’ Flight is a 19th Century newly converted barn built of stone and wood, set in a restored cobbled farmyard.  Ideal for a couple with a baby or two young children, it is entirely open plan with a well equipped kitchen, underfloor heating, bathroom with roll top bath and woodburner, with a double sofabed. Little roll out beds or cot/high chair can be added in at no extra charge.

In the barn you’ll find: a small kitchen area, a relaxing area with woodburning fire and cosy seating, a bathroom with roll top bath, a luxurious bed
and a private hot tub in the nearby garden. Relax in the your private rooftop hot tub on a deck overlooking the garden with southerly views to Start Point. On a clear night, the stars are truly a sight to behold as we have very little street lighting being surrounded by acres of open farmland.

Luxury Farmhouse

For one summer only, the family is renting out the major (front) wing for others to enjoy.

The front wing has a garden entrance leading into a hallway. A vast kitchen-diner overlooks fields with views over farmland towards Start Point lighthouse. The sitting room has a formal area for aperitifs and a cosy L-shaped seating area with TV. Upstairs there is a large landing and four bedrooms. The master kingsize bedroom faces south and has a large ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. The second bedroom has a double bed and looks out over fields. There is a family bathroom with shower and bath adjacent. Bedroom three has twin beds and bedroom four has a bunk/cabin bed. No problem to provide cots.

The charming yachting towns of Dartmouth & Salcombe are close by as well as a whole host of attractions as listed under Lucia's Recommendations.
