About Southole Barns
Southole Barns is a small cluster of 4 beautifully appointed cottages tucked away on the coastline of North-West Devon close to the border with Cornwall. Its tranquil location, set within extensive gardens with nature trails and a stream fed pond teaming with wildlife is conducive to a relaxing environment. The outdoor play area, shared hot tub and the small collection of chickens, ducks and guinea pigs, allows parents and children alike to relax and enjoy the beauty of this area with some amazing views of the countryside and coastline. Families who love nothing better than the feel of sand beneath their toes will be delighted with a variety of beaches within a short drive; from wide stretches of sandy beach for surfing and building sandcastles to smaller coves perfect for rock pooling. There’s also a myriad of things to do for non-beach days to keep the most energetic of children happy.
Owners Chris and Lydia with their young family would like to welcome you to their magical haven and we are delighted that they would like to share it. They were captivated by the charms of Southole Barns when they happen to stumble across it in 2013. After lavishing dollops of TLC and numerous man hours they have created a really special haven set within the Hartland Peninsula near Clovelly. It is certainly a place where you will feel rested and fortunate to have discovered them. The South West Coastal Path is within 150 meters, providing uninterrupted cliff top & coastal walks along it's rugged coastline, renowned for its dramatic scenery and breathtaking sea views & shipwrecks.
The Holiday Cottages
The Barns are a courtyard of former Victorian Monastery buildings that have been beautifully converted to a very high standard over the past 3 years, to form four unique self-catering holiday homes. The Barns feature open plan living space, beamed ceilings and woodburning stoves. They enjoy a lovely sunny aspect and are south facing with views of open fields and have direct access to a footpath leading to the South West Coastal Path.
Two cottages sleep 2 plus room for a cot with superking beds. Roseland Barn sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms all on one level so no stairs to worry about. Greenway Barn is an elegant two storey upside down barn conversion which sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms which has a secure stairgate and an enclosed private terrace. All properties available with wooden cots, highchair and baby bath. A host of family facilities are available and the barns sit within 2.5 acres of gardens featuring a stream flowing into a natural pond. A communal room with a selection of DVDs, books and games is available for families to borrow and ample parking is onsite. There is a communal washing machine and tumble drier should you happen to need it. There's also a hot tub in the garden to soak in after a long day's sightseeing.
