About Heath View Holidays
Heath View is brilliantly equipped with everything you could wish for and more...baby friendly, mobility friendly and dog friendly too!
Heath View is a 4 star accessible holiday bungalow in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, near the maritime town of Ipswich and just 6 miles from the stunning Suffolk Coast. This homely and spacious holiday property certainly ticks all the boxes. Not only is it extremely child friendly but it is also truly wheelchair friendly, dog friendly and happily, parent friendly too. With a pool, trampoline, sand pit, pigs, ducks, chickens and play area and an abundance of baby paraphernalia and mobility equipment provided, this is the perfect base to explore the beauty of East Anglia.
The owners, Jasper and Lynne, have four children of their own with their eldest daughter a full-time wheelchair user, so they completely understand the difficulties of finding a holiday property that truly can accommodate the needs of young families and especially one that is also accessible friendly. Jasper is a retired GP, Lynne an ex- nurse and live next door to Heath View, so it is comforting to know all that medical knowledge could be tapped into should it be needed. They are also a helpful source of local knowledge whether you want the best places to visit with toddlers, child friendly restaurants or accessible beaches with a buggy. All the added extras the owners have thoughtfully provided makes Heath View stand out as being exceptionally well equipped.
The Holiday Accommodation
This welcoming home comprises four bedrooms sleeping eight, the fourth bedroom being accessed independently from the main house, ideal for extended families. Inside, the house has wide spaces easy for children to navigate and a feel that you are never on top of each other. There are also two bathrooms and two toilets. There is an abundance of story and picture books, games and toys including Megablocks, trains, a farm set and a good selection of DVD's.
Mobility and Equipment
Heath View has a wide entrance and is a totally step-free environment. The house is rated a 1 and 2 for mobility access with three of the bedrooms and the wet room are perfectly accessible for wheelchair users. A wheeled shower chair is available if required together with a fold up mobility scooter and zimmer frame.
As well as the usual cot (there are two) and high chair, you are welcome to use the microwave steriliser, baby bath and changing mat. If you’re little ones are up and about there is also a potty and toddler toilet seat. A portable toddler seat can be loaned and taken out on trips exploring Suffolk’s fabulous eateries. To make packing the car easier there is also a baby/toddler backpack, a child bike seat, a bike trailer and a Maclaren buggy.
The Garden and Play Area
Outside, Heath View is a safe place for little ones to play. The front garden has a gate and safety wire all around the hedges. There are further gates that can enclose the back garden on both sides of the house. The garden is completely flat and is quiet and private. There is a fabulous hand-built play deck which allows children of all ages to explore different themes at different levels. Opposite this is a secret playhouse for mini adventures. Beyond the private garden is an area, shared only with the owners’ children, with a sunken sand pit, sunken trampoline and swings, including a baby/toddler seat. For all ages there is a grass tennis court/croquet lawn which can also be used for football. A hard court area has basketball and a lower hoop for those who can't quite reach.
Living happily at the bottom of the garden are the resident two pigs, five ducks and six chickens. The pigs are fed morning and evening, an activity you are welcome to watch or join in. And the chicken and duck eggs are there for you to collect for breakfast.
If the weather is not so good and to keep teenagers occupied, there is an indoor games area with table tennis and table football. There is also Wi-fi and BTTV.
The Indoor Pool
The indoor pool is 6 meters x 2.5 meters x 1.2m deep and kept at around 30C. There are wide steps for easy access and an overhead hoist for anyone who should need it. There are some armbands (although it is usually best to bring your own) and plenty of pool toys. If it is hot, the pool is surrounded by bi-fold doors that can be opened fully. Outside the pool area there is a hot tub overlooking the sand pit and trampoline. There is a hammock and various deck chairs for relaxing in.
The Area and things to do in Suffolk
Opposite Heath View is a large conservation heathland. One guest commented: "The heath opposite was an adventure playground for the little ones – they loved exploring the “wild woods”, picking blackberries, finding bugs and butterflies in the heather." The nearest beach is Felixstowe, which has a fun end with a pier and amusements and a more traditional beach in Old Felixstowe. A short drive further north takes you to the Suffolk Heritage Coast and Aldeburgh, Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich. The maritime town of Ipswich and the market town of Woodbridge are both close by and contain parks, shops, museums and various eateries. Norwich and Bury St Edmunds are both easily reached by either car or train. For older children there is canoeing and paddle boarding, a skate park and a trampolining centre. Suffolk has an abundance of farm parks where you can ride a tractor or pony, have picnic and feed the goats, pigs and the famous, giant Suffolk Punch horses. Suffolk is a great place for a fun family holiday with many award-winning beaches.
