About the owners

Paul & Patricia

A very warm Irish welcome awaits you at Bel Air Gites. In 2010 we decided it was time to escape from the rat race to live out our dreams in gorgeous South West France. We took over the well established child friendly Bel Air Gites, and after one summer season, were convinced we’d made a brilliant decision. We hope you love it here as much as we do!

Tips from the owners

Local things to do, places to eat and attractions not to be missed.

  • Château des Énigmes, at Pons, have a treasure hunt that is great fun for kids and adults alike. The challenges are diverse, imaginative, large-scale and well constructed.

  • Right in the heart of one of the most beautiful pine forests in the area, you will find La Palmyre Zoo. Well worth a visit, there are over 1600 animals to spot.

  • Spend the day at Saint Georges de Didonne beach. Only 20 minutes from the gites, it’s a charming town with a sandy beach.

  • If you fancy some city culture, Bordeaux is only an hour away. There are museums, architecture and cafes aplenty to soak in.

  • With over 2500 km of mostly flat cycle paths to explore, the region is great for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
