So gorgeous and beautifully presented - it’s hard to believe this handsome 14th century farmhouse in the Cotswolds is as family friendly as it is. Spend hours, days, weeks if you can, indulging in a bit of you time while the kids go nuts in the Ofsted-registered creche, supervised by the amazing onsite childcare team.

About this place

Best bits

  • Kick back knowing there is really good childcare and babysitting if you want to enjoy more grown up pastimes like good wine and spa time.
  • Drop the kids off at The Playbarn where plenty of toys, arts and crafts equipment will keep them stimulated and happy for a few hours a day.
  • For older kids (aged 8 and up), The Mez is an Aladdin’s cave with PlayStations, Wii consoles, Xboxes, computers and even a 12-seater cinema.

Top tips

  • If you want to use the creche facilities, always book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • Booking a Family Pad room that comes with an adjoining children’s room with mini beds or bunks gives you more privacy and flexibility.
  • If your kids love food, let them learn how to bake at one of Calcot’s Saturday morning workshops.

  • Don’t miss the chance to get close to some amazing wildlife at Slimbridge Wetlands Centre- about half an hour’s drive away.
