Choose your own pace at Callow Top — whether you’re tent-camping as a first-timer or bringing a campervan or motorhome. The site welcomes tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes, with a mix of non-electric grass pitches and hardstanding electric pitches. The grass pitches are generous (about 59 ft x 30 ft) and great for tents or smaller vans, while the electric pitches give you a firm base with room for awnings and outdoor kit, which makes longer stays simpler to manage.
Families tend to appreciate the roomy layout — you’re not squeezed in shoulder-to-shoulder, and there’s plenty of open space for kids to run about safely without you having to hover constantly.
The practical bits are well thought through for real-world family camping. There are three toilet blocks, two with warm showers included, and baby-changing facilities in both the park toilets and in the swimming pool area — which parents genuinely notice and use. You’ll also find coin-operated hairdryers and plug sockets (handy for inflating airbeds or styling gear before an evening out), plus a laundry room with machines, dryers and ironing space for longer trips or after soggy walks.
For the camping purists, there’s minimal bright lighting around the pitches — bring a torch and you’ll notice how dark and peaceful the nights are, which also makes for excellent star-spotting once the kids are in bed.
Callow Top ask that noise is kept respectful and quiet after 10.30 pm, which means your neighbours are on the same family-friendly page.
