A rare place where you can surround yourself with exquisite interiors, fine dining, spas and beautifully manicured grounds in a majestic manor... and your children are welcomed.

Rooms

The hotel’s sumptuous bedrooms are decorated with antique artwork and opulent furnishings that complement the history of the house and further the luxurious stately home feel, without being stuffy. Accommodation ranges from Club Rooms (some with their own hot tub) to suites, and there’s even a very private three-bedroom cottage. Many of the rooms have sitting areas and lovely views of the grounds, and most sleep one to two children.

Eat

Children are welcome to dine in the elegant Cliveden Dining Room until 8pm, which offers fine dining in the most opulent of surroundings. Later family meals can be enjoyed in The Astor Grill, a more informal option in the beautifully converted old stables, which offers the likes of burgers and salads.

It would be remiss not to make the most of the surroundings with one of Cliveden’s classic afternoon teas (with a champagne option available for adults). Room service is also available.

Activities

There are two pools on-site: an indoor one (open to under 15s for 90 minutes in the morning and afternoon) and an outdoor pool (open to children all day). A selection of games and toys are available for younger kids, and there’s a wide range of DVDs available – perfect if you all want to hole up for a relaxing evening.

The beautiful grounds (National Trust) are an absolute highlight here, offering not just landscaped gardens and woodland to explore but also a natural play trail, a maze and the Storybook Play Den. Adults can relax at the sumptuous spa, and there’s also indoor and outdoor tennis courts here. A number of boats are available for hire, and there’s even a daily champagne river cruise.

Owner recommendations

There’s so much to do in the grounds, including the Cliveden Maze, built in 1894, and the all-natural woodland play trail.
Enjoy the theme-park rides and impressive creations at LEGOLAND Windsor, which is just 11 miles away.
Younger kids especially will love meeting all the animals at Odds Farm Park, only a six-minute drive away.
Also nearby is Bekonscot Model Village and Railway, where you can all pretend to be giants for the day.
If you’ve got kids aged six to 12, they’re bound to love the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, which brings the eponymous author’s stories to life.
