Eating at Cosy Under Canvas

Cosy Under Canvas do their best to accommodate all, and are constantly striving to improve facilities and raise standards in customer care. The very nature of the woodland site means that unlimited access is not possible at all times but reasonable adjustments can be made to ensure that disabled persons are accommodated.

Location & local area

Where is it and how do you get there?

By road

Cosy Under Canvas is situated on the England Wales border with Hereford to the east and Brecon to the west. Check out the directions before you leave home as there is limited mobile signal in the rural area surrounding the site. The postcode is HR5 3QQ or enter ‘Clyro’ into your satnav then follow the brown tourist information signs from the main A438 Brecon to Hereford road.

By rail

The nearest train station is Hereford, where you can jump on a bus to Hay-on-Wye. From there, owner Emma is happy to pick you up.

About the owners

We love camping in all its forms and with three children of our own we understand that sometimes you just need to ‘make life easy’. Over the last 10 years we have listened and learned and we are always on hand for assistance with fire lighting, advice about activities or even the loan of a pair of wellies. Knock on the door, leave us a note or give one of our kids a message and we’ll be right there to answer any questions we can. We are proud of what we have created here in our small but lovely woodland and we sincerely hope that you enjoy your stay with us.

Tips from the owners

Local things to do, places to eat and attractions not to be missed.

  • Book a local therapist to come to you. Take your pick between a relaxing deep tissue back massage, holistic facial and neck massage or healing reflexology.

  • If you’d rather not leave the comfort of the site our friends at Interactivities have a fabulous Archery set up that they can bring up for a half day activity.

  • Go on a country walk or hike up a mountain. We can provide you with maps for walks direct from your dome door or borrow an OS map and walk in the Black Mountains or Brecon Beacons.

  • Treat yourselves to portrait photography as a memory of your holiday. We can recommend an experienced photographer and mountain walker, plus she's a mum herself.

  • The most popular activity for guests of all ages is a half day meander down the River Wye. Hire a kayak or a Canadian canoe and paddle your way down a quiet unspoilt and beautifully serene stretch of the River.

  • Horse riding on the local common land is another rewarding way to enjoy the spectacular scenery. Situated only 2 miles from Cosy Under Canvas you can pop along whatever your ability. The views are simply stunning.
