The Abbey Cottage has an acre of gorgeous gardens that are perfect for the whole family. With expansive lawns, a quaint courtyard, serene ponds, a spacious patio, and shady tree-filled areas, there’s plenty of space for the children to play and for everyone to unwind and explore.
Unwind in the hot tub, it’s the perfect spot to relax and soak up the peaceful countryside.
The summerhouse is an ideal spot to retreat to when you need a moment of peace and quiet. Whether you’re curling up with a good book, enjoying a cup of tea, or simply taking a second to relax.

Take a trip to Bury St Edmunds, a charming market town right in the heart of Suffolk. It’s full of history, culture, and scenic spots to explore—and it’s just a quick 15-minute drive from Abbey Cottage.
All local supermarkets offer delivery to the cottage, so it could be a good idea to order your groceries in advance and schedule a delivery for your arrival.
Make sure to bring your wellies for the garden and any outdoor adventures, especially on dewy mornings or during the winter months.

The Abbey Cottage is a fabulous retreat for a family getaway and blends perfectly comfort with character. Featuring three lovely bedrooms, all with king-size beds and a traditional style, each offer a cosy space. The downstairs bedroom has its own ensuite, while one of the upstairs bedrooms can be set up as two singles if needed. Upstairs, there’s a spacious family bathroom, complemented by a handy WC downstairs, which is a practical addition for groups of all ages.

For an extra touch of magic, there’s a shepherd’s hut in the garden that sleeps two more guests. It’s a delightful space, and like one of the cottage bedrooms, the bed can be arranged as a king-size or twin singles. This makes it perfect for extra guests or anyone seeking a little more privacy - teens perhaps?!?

For little ones a travel cot and toddler floor bed are available as required - just let Tom know when booking. You'll also find a high chair in the dining room, and retractable stair gates on the stairs to keep little people in or out.

Inside, the cottage has plenty of room to relax and enjoy. The lounge is warm and inviting, with a large LED TV that’s great for unwinding after a busy day or cosying up for a film night.

The conservatory is a brilliant space to enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather and offers a dining area and comfy seating that overlooks the garden—perfect for an early morning cuppa.

The Abbey Cottage boasts a fully equipped modern kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals – whether you’re whipping up a hearty family feast or just making a quick snack, the kitchen is well-stocked with all the essentials and thoughtful extras to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Coffee lovers are especially in for a treat, as the kitchen includes both an Espresso coffee machine and a Tassimo pod machine.

A high chair is available, as are childrens plates, bowls and cutlery.

The main dining room has a table large enough to comfortably seat 10, making it ideal for big family dinners or games nights.

If relaxing in the hot tub is part of your plan, you’ll love the addition of hot tub-safe champagne glasses and tumblers, allowing you to sip your favorite bubbly or a refreshing cocktail while soaking under the stars.

To make life even easier, all the local supermarkets deliver to the cottage. Booking your shopping ahead of time and scheduling a delivery for your arrival ensures that your holiday gets off to a stress-free start.

For dining out, the nearby town of Bury St Edmunds—just 15 minutes away—is a haven for food lovers and rightly earns its reputation as the food capital of Suffolk. For an unforgettable fine dining experience, La Maison Bleue and the Michelin-starred Lark stand out with their exquisite menus. If you’re after something more casual yet equally delicious, Mowgli offers dishes inspired by the Indian home kitchens, while Giggling Squid serves up vibrant, flavorful Thai food for lunch and dinner in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

The grounds are full of charm, with tranquil ponds, colorful flower beds, and plenty of spots to sit back and relax or get stuck into some outdoor fun. The summerhouse is a cosy retreat where you can curl up with a good book, sip a quiet cuppa, or simply take a moment to unwind. For those with a competitive streak, it’s equipped with a pool table and darts, while outside, table tennis and croquet provide even more opportunities for family fun.

Dunwich Heath and Beach is on the Suffolk coast, offering a chance to truly connect with nature. You can explore several footpaths that wind through diverse habitats, where you’ll encounter a variety of birds and wildlife. The car park and visitor facilities are open throughout the summer and on weekends during the winter months. After a day of adventure, enjoy a warm welcome at the tea room with a freshly baked scone or homemade cake.

For a family day out head to the beautiful village of Lavenham, surrounded by ancient woodlands and rolling countryside. Lavenham is one of England’s best-preserved Medieval villages - wander through its narrow streets, lined with charming timber-framed buildings, and explore the large market square, flanked by iconic Medieval and Tudor halls.
