Accessibility

Tynrhyd Retreat has been built on level ground accessible for wheelchair users. Inside, the houses are large and spacious with easy access. Ramps are available to accommodate where there are minor differences between the floor levels. All the houses feature at least one wet-room within the accommodation and shower chairs and hoist facilities are available. There is access to a rehabilitation swim spa/ hot tub with a hoist, and an external disabled toilet facility and wheelchair friendly picnic benches.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By rail

Aberystwyth Station is the closest, with routes running to most major UK stations. You can grab a taxi from there, around 30 minutes.

By road

Easily accessible from across the UK. From the Midlands (via the A5), the South (via the M5, then A5) or from the North, following signs to Chester then Wrexham. Once in Wales head to Aberystwyth, it’s a short drive from there.

Tynrhyd is a family owned and run business offering a warm Welsh welcome. Based on our own holiday needs with three small children, we aimed to create a family holiday experience with a difference. Our speciality is peace and quiet, the space to unwind and spend precious time with your loved ones away from the busy world.

  • Bwlch Nant yr Arian has everything you could need for a kid’s day out – play areas, a puzzle trail, adventure playgrounds, a visitor centre, café, walking and cycling paths.

  • Loved by teenagers and tots, the Silver Mountain Experience has tours, theatrical experiences, games, interactive shows, gem panning, den building and fossils hunts.

  • Keep small children entertained meeting alpacas, milking cows and riding a tractor at Fantasy Farm Park.

  • All aboard for a steam train adventure to the Victorian seaside town of Aberystwyth on the Vale of Rheidol Railway.

  • Explore Ynys Las beach (a local secret) with its iconic sand dunes and petrified forest.

  • Aberystwyth Art Centre offers a theatre, concert hall, studio, cafe and cinema. Great for rainy days.
