Child Friendly Holidays Wales

Wales covers a lot of ground, and the variety is one of its greatest strengths for families. Mountains, coastline, national parks, market towns and some of the most dramatic scenery in the UK, all within a country compact enough to explore properly in a week or two. Pembrokeshire is a great introduction for families discovering Wales for the first time. The national park coastline is genuinely world-class: wide sandy beaches, dramatic cliff walks, seal spotting and coasteering for older children, with some of the finest child-friendly coastal cottages in the UK. St Davids, the smallest city in Britain, is worth a morning, and the whole peninsula has an other-world quality that families find addictive: the remoteness, the pace, the scenery and the feeling that very little here has changed. Snowdonia suits families who want mountains, lakes and proper outdoor adventure. The Snowdon mountain railway works for every age, and the surrounding national park offers mountain biking, white water rafting, zip-lining and walking trails at every level. Self-catering cottages and farm stays in Snowdonia put families right in the landscape rather than on the edge of it. The Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons offer two very different versions of Wales within easy reach of each other. The Gower was the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and its beaches, particularly Rhossili, are among the finest in Britain. The Brecons are quieter, wilder and perfect for families who want walking, cycling and stargazing in one of the UK's best dark sky areas. Mid Wales and the Wye Valley are the undiscovered option: less visited, genuinely peaceful and full of child-friendly farm stays and rural cottages that offer exactly the kind of unplugged family holiday that is increasingly hard to find. All of the properties here are Away with the Kids approved, visited, vetted and genuinely loved by families with children of their own. Use the filters above to find what suits your family.
