I cannot wait for a relaxed family break with the kids and given it's holiday booking season you should be considering where you might want to go now, given that many places are booked up months, years, in advance…

So, I cannot wait for some chilled out time - a relaxed family break with the kids. My mind set is quite possibly due to the hectic time that is Christmas, and as much as I LOVE it, hectic is the word. Time out for us all, away from it all – that doesn’t have to be far – UK family holidays are the reason we developed the site – but it has to be away.

And relaxed! With space for the children to explore and be who/what they want to be, with new friends, or old friends or family. So browsing and looking for a place for us all to escape to is always a lovely pastime.

We need facilities to keep them busy, particularly if they just can't be bothered kicking their imagination into gear. With luxury touches to keep me happy - more so, so that I feel like I have actually left home and have not simply been transferred to another kitchen completing similar duties! That could be prepared home-cooked food in the fridge or freezer, a sneaky little massage, or a quiet read whilst the kids go off and play. It could be hiring a chef for the night to cater for our family gathering – it could be my husband creating something delicious involving no input from me.

Walks that are safe for all the family - main roads are as we all know a bit of a hazard - walks in some instances right from the door-step. Paddles in the sea – the sea in some instances practically on the door-step. Swimming in a pool, indoor or outdoor dependent on temperature.

Lazy breakfasts, lie-ins if the Gods are on side, pjs all day if it’s raining enjoying a view to savour, wrapped up warm against the elements for a bracing walk, lounging around with virtually nothing on as it’s too hot – whatever or wherever finding a place to be with your own is one of the most important and costly investments for your family annually – so make sure you draw up a wish list of requirements, make sure that you research thoroughly the place that you are considering – make sure you get it right. Cornwall in a child friendly cottage, a lodge set amongst a stunning and extreme landscape in John O'Groats, a hotel in Turkey on the beach or on your own yacht for the day - lots of ideas - all checked out by us to help you decide on your perfect family holiday.
