Part of the enormous Kielder Water & Forest Park, Leaplish Waterside Park is particularly geared up to families. You can go to the birds of prey centre, take a trip on the Osprey ferry, have a walk or cycle, observe wildlife from the red squirrel hide, swim in the heated indoor pool, play minature golf or have a fabulous time playing in the children's play area.
Kielder Water & Forest Park suggest the following when visiting:
- bring insect repellent as midges are fairly common in the park in the spring and summer - repellent can also be bought at the visitor shop
- wear comfy footwear as you will probably be on your feet a lot
- water activities need to be pre-booked
- adder snakes which are venomous are occasionally spotted at the park - they rarely bite but give them a wide berth and just observe them from a distance.

Car parking at Kielder Water & Forest Park costs £4 for the day - car parking tickets are available at any of the visitor centre car parks and can be used at any of the car parks within the Park throughout that day. Alternatively, if you park for one hour or under, the charge is £1.50. All income received from parking is reinvested into the development and enhancement of visitor facilities, including the preservation of important wildlife and nature locations.
